Your Vote Matters in Every Election. Active participation in every election is crucial for a thriving democracy, and this holds especially true in Orange County, California. As a registered voter in Orange County, you have a significant opportunity in the upcoming November 5, 2024, General Election to influence elected offices at all levels of government. Your vote directly impacts both state and local policies through state ballot propositions and local measures relevant to Orange County.
This 2024 Election Guide is designed to help Orange County residents like you make informed decisions about statewide candidates and issues on the November 5th ballot. It provides essential information regarding when and where to cast your ballot in Orange County, details on the United States Senate races, state ballot propositions that affect California and Orange County, and an overview of your rights as a California voter.
To enhance voter accessibility in Orange County and across the state, you now have more days and multiple ways to vote! Please note these important dates and election options for Orange County voters:
Ballots Mailed to Every Registered Voter: By October 7, 2024, every registered voter in Orange County will receive their ballot for the 2024 Election.
- Returning Your Ballot by Mail: You can return your ballot conveniently by mail using the postage-paid envelope included. Ensure your ballot is postmarked on or before Election Day, November 5, 2024, and received by the Orange County elections office no later than 7 days after Election Day.
- Early Voting Begins: October 7, 2024 marks the start of early voting. The Orange County Registrar of Voters office, and potentially additional locations throughout Orange County, will offer early voting. Check your county election website for specific Orange County early voting locations and times.
- Ballot Drop-Off Locations Open: Starting no later than October 8, 2024, official ballot drop-off locations will be available throughout Orange County. These secure locations provide an alternative to mail for returning your ballot. Check the Orange County Registrar of Voters website for a list of official drop box locations.
- Vote Centers Open in Voter’s Choice Act Counties: In Orange County, which operates under the Voter’s Choice Act, vote centers will open starting October 26, 2024. These centers allow you to vote in person, drop off your ballot, register to vote, and receive assistance.
- Election Day: November 5, 2024 is Election Day. This is the last day to vote in the General Election. Polling places and vote centers in Orange County will be open on Election Day.
Plan Your Vote: Decide now if you will vote by mail, drop off your ballot at an official drop-off location in Orange County, or vote in person at a neighborhood polling place or vote center in Orange County. Making a plan ensures your voice is heard.
Track Your Ballot: Orange County voters can track their ballot after mailing or dropping it off.
