Dear California Voter,

Every election is significant. Your active participation in each election is crucial for a thriving democracy. As a registered voter in California, you have a vital opportunity in the upcoming November 5, 2024, General Election to cast your vote for elected officials at all levels of government. Furthermore, you can directly influence state and local policies by voting on state ballot propositions and local measures.

This Election Guide is designed to empower you to make informed decisions regarding statewide candidates and important issues featured on the November 5th ballot. Within this guide, you will find essential details about when and where to vote, information on the United States Senate races, state ballot propositions, and a clear outline of your rights as a California voter.

To enhance your voting experience and ensure greater accessibility, you now have more days and multiple convenient ways to vote! Please take note of these key election dates and voting options:

By October 7, 2024, every registered voter in California will have received their official ballot for the 2024 Election via mail.

  • You can return your completed ballot by mail using the provided postage–paid envelope. To be counted, your ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day, November 5, 2024, and received by your county elections office within 7 days after Election Day.
  • Early voting commences on October 7, 2024. County elections officials will offer early voting services at their offices, and many counties will also provide additional early voting locations leading up to Election Day.
  • Official ballot drop–off locations will be available no later than October 8, 2024.
  • In Voter’s Choice Act counties, you can return your ballot or vote in person at designated vote centers starting October 26, 2024.
  • November 5, 2024, is Election Day, the final day to cast your vote in the General Election.

Plan Your Vote: Decide whether you will vote by mail, utilize a convenient ballot drop–off location, or vote in person at a neighborhood polling place or vote center.

Track Your Ballot: Stay informed about your ballot’s status! Sign up at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov to receive real-time notifications via text, email, or voice alerts as your ballot is processed.
