Racial Bonuses for Blacksmithing
Certain races possess racial traits that grant profession skill bonuses. These bonuses allow recipes to remain orange (guaranteeing a skill point increase) for an extended range of skill levels (2-5 extra points). This advantage can save you gold by enabling you to gain skill points from lower-level recipes for longer.
Races with Blacksmithing skill bonuses include:
- Lightforged Draenei: +5 Blacksmithing skill
- Dark Iron Dwarves: +5 Blacksmithing skill
- Kul Tiran: +2 Blacksmithing skill

Blacksmithing Specializations in War Within
Upon reaching Blacksmithing skill level 25, you will unlock Blacksmithing specializations.
Eventually, you can learn all three specializations, so your initial choice is not permanent. Unlocking the second specialization requires 50 skill points, the third requires 60, and the fourth requires 75.
However, the allocation of your Blacksmithing Knowledge Points is crucial. Take time to explore the specializations and decide on your preferred path. Avoid rushing into spending Knowledge Points without a clear strategy, as they are a limited resource.
We recommend consulting our detailed War Within Blacksmithing Specialization Guide, which covers each specialization and sub-specialization comprehensively and includes example builds to get you started.

Craft 17x Forged Framework – Requires 17x Crystalline Powder, 17x Core Alloy

Consider selecting Everburning Forge as your second or third specialization at this stage! It offers a cheaper alternative leveling path.
Blacksmithing Leveling Guide: Skill Levels 65 – 75
If crafting Sanctified Alloy is cost-prohibitive, skip this section and proceed with Everburning Ignition for a more economical, albeit slower, leveling approach.
Craft 20x Sanctified Alloy – Requires 100x Echoing Flux, 20x Profaned Tinderbox, 20x Null Stone, 40x Ironclaw Ore, 20x Core Alloy
This recipe will turn green for the last 5 skill points, so expect to craft approximately 25-30. However, you might achieve level 75 with fewer crafts depending on luck.
If selling Sanctified Alloys is profitable or breaks even with material costs, you can continue crafting them until they turn grey at skill level 80.
Blacksmithing Leveling Guide: Skill Levels 75 – 94
Everburning Ignition will remain orange up to skill level 90. It has a 2-hour recharge time with 5 charges, allowing you to craft periodically without constant logins.
You can hold a maximum of 10 Everburning Ignitions in your inventory. Sell or use some to craft the required 30.
Craft 30x Everburning Ignition – Requires 30x Artisan’s Acuity, 150x Crystalline Powder, 30x Core Alloy
This process will take around 3-4 days if you log in at least once every 10 hours.
Leveling Blacksmithing from 94 to 100
Everburning Ignition can grant skill points up to 100, but it will be green for the last 5 points, necessitating a significant number of crafts to reach 100. If you possess epic armor or weapon recipes, switching to crafting orders is recommended for these final levels.
These epic recipes require a Spark of Omen, a Bind on Pickup (BoP) crafting reagent obtainable only every two weeks. Utilize the crafting order system for these last 6 skill points, as each recipe provides 3 skill points, requiring only 2 crafts.
Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing Specializations for Leveling
Recipes learned from Weaponsmithing or Armorsmithing specializations grant skill points up to 100. Choosing any recipe from these specializations will effectively level you to 100.

Utilizing Crafting Orders for Final Blacksmithing Levels
Once you acquire recipes from specializations, vendors, or drops, you can leverage Crafting Orders to reach skill level 100.
Public Orders for Blacksmithing
When accessing the Crafting Orders tab, remember to click “Search” in the top left corner of the Public Orders tab, as orders do not load automatically. Public crafting orders might be scarce due to players quickly fulfilling them upon posting.
Public Crafting Orders have not been widely adopted by players in Dragonflight, and this trend is likely to continue in The War Within. Players often favor guild or personal crafting orders for greater control over item quality and materials. The unpredictable nature of public orders discourages their use, resulting in limited availability.
Compounding the issue, Public Orders are realm-specific. You will only see orders from players on your realm. Low-population realms may have minimal or no Public Orders available.
NPC Orders for Blacksmithing
Fortunately, the new NPC crafting orders simplify leveling somewhat. You will frequently receive epic weapon and armor crafting orders. However, completing some might be contingent on acquiring more knowledge points.
These NPC orders are player-specific and cannot be claimed by others, functioning like Personal Orders directed to you. They are randomly generated, so receiving orders for recipes you can currently craft is not guaranteed.
Personal Orders for Blacksmithing
To level using Personal Orders, advertise your services in the trade channel. Most players seeking personal orders desire guaranteed rank 5 items. Emphasize the recipes you can craft at that quality level in your advertisements.
Monitor the trade channel in Dornogal for players seeking items you can craft and proactively offer your services.
