Stage 1: Story Mode Mastery
GTA V’s single-player campaign immerses you in the lives of three distinct protagonists: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. Each character brings unique skills, backgrounds, and storylines to the sprawling narrative of Los Santos and Blaine County. Your initial playthrough should focus on experiencing the rich story without worrying about specific trophies. Story progression naturally unlocks better weapons, vehicle upgrades, and side missions essential for later trophy hunting.
Crucially, pay attention to the final mission’s choice. Options A and B will lock you out of certain character-specific miscellaneous trophies. To ensure you don’t miss anything and keep all trophy opportunities open, choose option C.

Stage 2: Collectibles and Side Missions Cleanup
Once you’ve completed the main story and selected option “C” in the final mission, it’s time to tackle the remaining ? markers on the map across all three characters. These side missions are crucial for achieving 100% completion. To track your progress, hold down the D-pad to see the number of uncompleted missions for each character in the character switch wheel.
This stage is dedicated to cleaning up these side missions and collecting essential items for trophies. In this stage, you will unlock:

All’s Fare In Love And War (Purchase Downtown Cab Co. and complete a private fare)
As Franklin, purchase the Downtown Cab Company located south of the casino in East Vinewood for $200,000. After the purchase, Franklin will receive calls for special private fares, each with unique rules. There are nine private fares in total. Be vigilant and answer these calls as they appear. Declining all nine private fares will make this trophy unobtainable, requiring a save reload or a new game.
TP Industries Arms Race (Purchase McKenzie Field Hangar and win the arms race)
Purchase McKenzie Field hangar as Trevor in Grapeseed for $150,000. This unlocks ten missions: five in the air and five on the ground. These missions involve delivering weapons to various locations in Blaine County under specific conditions. Completing the 10th mission unlocks this trophy.
Multi-Disciplined (Attain a gold medal in all applicable hobbies and pastimes)
GTA V offers a variety of hobbies and pastimes. To earn this trophy, you must achieve a gold medal in six specific activities:
- Shooting Range Competition: Visit the Ammu-Nation in Pillbox Hill or Cypress Flats (the only locations with shooting ranges). Michael’s high shooting stat makes him ideal for this.
- Triathlon: The first triathlon is on the coast near Los Santos Customs by the airport. Character choice doesn’t matter as long as they have full stamina.
- Flight School Lesson: Located at Los Santos International Airport. Trevor’s superior flying stat is beneficial, but any character can complete these lessons.
- Sea Race: Found across San Andreas’ major bodies of water. Franklin’s driving skill is helpful here.
- Street Race: Exclusive to Franklin after meeting Hao in the mission “Shift Work” (unlocked post-story mission “Complications”).
- Off-Road Race: Located throughout Blaine County. Franklin’s driving skill is again useful.
From Beyond the Stars (Collect and return all spaceship parts)
After “Fame or Shame,” a side mission for Franklin unlocks in the Grand Senora Desert. Speaking to Omega starts the hunt for 50 spaceship parts scattered across the map. Collect all 50 to trigger the final cutscene and unlock this trophy. While Franklin initiates the mission, any character can collect the parts, and helicopters (Trevor’s airfields provide easy access) are needed for some locations.
A Mystery, Solved (Solve the Mystery of Leonora Johnson)
Letter scraps are available from the game’s start and can be collected by any character. Like spaceship parts, finding all 50 unlocks “A Starlet in Vinewood,” the mission required for this trophy. Helicopters are necessary to reach some letter scraps.
Waste Management (Purchase the old dock and collect all nuclear waste)
The old dock, purchasable after the Merryweather Heist, is in Paleto Cove. Michael or Trevor can buy it for $250,000. Collect 30 barrels of nuclear waste. It’s recommended to collect them all in one continuous submarine trip to save time. The submarine is slow, so allocate 2-3 hours for this task.
Show Off (Complete all Stunt Jumps)
There are 50 stunt jumps across GTA V. Each jump must be landed cleanly without crashing. Franklin’s special ability (L3+R3 to slow down time in vehicles) makes this easier. Quick-saving before each jump is advised to reload if you fail.
Close Shave (Complete all Under the Bridge and Knife Flight challenges)
This trophy requires completing 50 under-the-bridge challenges and 15 knife flights. Helicopters are ideal for bridge challenges, allowing for slow and careful navigation. Knife flights are more challenging; the Mallard plane from Elitas Travel (purchased via phone) is recommended due to its slow speed and maneuverability. Quick-saving before each attempt is highly recommended.
Note: The Rockstar Social Club provides a single-player map tailored to your account, showing collectible locations and progress. Stunt Jumps and Close Shave challenges can also be done in GTA Online, awarding 100 RP per jump/bridge/flight and bonus RP upon 100% completion, contributing towards the Above the Law and Decorated trophies.
Red Mist (Complete all Rampages)
Rampages are Trevor-exclusive missions. Starting a Rampage makes Trevor enraged, granting near-invulnerability and increased damage. Complete all Rampages anytime after unlocking Trevor, as long as you choose option C in the final story mission.
Three Man Army (Survive three minutes with all three characters with a 3-star wanted level together off mission)
As any character, call the other two to hang out. Franklin is recommended due to his fast and durable four-door vehicle. Go to Los Santos International Airport; entering the tarmac instantly triggers a 3-star wanted level. Survive for three minutes within the airport runways to unlock the trophy.
Out Of Your Depth (You’re gonna need a bigger boat…)
Simply get eaten by a shark. Go to any coast with deep water and wait for a red dot (shark) to appear on the radar. Jump into the water and let the shark attack you.
Altruist Acolyte (Deliver an unsuspecting victim to the Altruist cult)
Trevor exclusive. While driving, you may encounter NPCs needing a ride (white radar flash, blue dot). Instead of their destination, a large “A” icon will appear in the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness. Drive the victim there for the trophy.
A Lot of Cheddar (Spend $200 million across all three characters) & Trading Pure Alpha (Make a profit over your total investments in the stock market)
With any character (who will have at least $25 million post-heist), use your phone to access the stock market. Invest all your money in a rising stock (green arrow), immediately buy, then immediately sell. Repeat until you’ve spent $200 million cumulatively. For “Trading Pure Alpha,” wait for a period (in-game sleeping speeds this up) before selling to ensure profit.
Pimp My Sidearm (Fully mod a weapon)
Visit any Ammu-nation, buy a pistol (the cheapest weapon), and purchase all available attachments. This costs under $3000 and unlocks the trophy. This can also be done in GTA Online for RP and Decorated trophy progress.
Wanted: Alive or Alive (Deliver a bail bond target alive)
Trevor-exclusive after meeting Maude in the Grand Senora Desert. Complete bounty hunter missions. There are four contracts; deliver at least one target alive. These missions are straightforward, but missable if all targets are accidentally killed. Create a backup save before the fourth contract if you accidentally kill the first three.
Los Santos Customs (Fully Mod a vehicle)
At Los Santos Customs, upgrade every customization category on any vehicle. You don’t need the maximum upgrade in each, just something other than the stock part. This can also be done in GTA Online for RP and Decorated trophy progress.
Stage 3: Single-player Cleanup and Kifflom!
This stage focuses on completing any remaining single-player trophies and tackling the unique “Kifflom!” trophy. In this stage, you will unlock:
- Solid Gold, Baby!
- Career Criminal
- San Andreas Sightseer
- Kifflom!
- A New Perspective
Solid Gold, Baby! (Earn 70 Gold Medals on Missions, Strangers & Freaks)
Missions have medal criteria (time, kills, accuracy, etc.), viewable post-mission. With over 120 total missions and numerous Strangers & Freaks missions, achieving 70 gold medals is manageable.
- Strangers & Freaks missions often have easier gold medal requirements. Prioritize these.
- Gold medals don’t require a single attempt. Speedrun for time-based criteria first, then replay for accuracy or other specific objectives.
Career Criminal (Attain 100% game completion)
Story missions constitute 50% of completion, side missions, Strangers & Freaks, hobbies, and miscellaneous activities make up the other 50%. Rockstar’s Social Club checklist tracks your 100% progress, showing completed and remaining tasks. Key components include:
- All 69 main missions
- Majority of Strangers & Freaks, including:
- Tonya (5 missions)
- Beverly (4 missions)
- Dom (4 missions)
- Barry (2 missions)
- Majority of hobbies and pastimes:
- 12 flight school tests (medal required)
- 6 offroad races (medal required)
- 6 weapon classes at the shooting range (medal required)
- 5 street races (medal required)
- 4 sea races (medal required)
- All triathlons
- All base jumps
- All helicopter jumps
- Win a Tennis match
- Win a Darts match
- 9 holes of Golf at par or below (≤ 36 strokes)
- Private dance at the strip club
- 16 miscellaneous activities:
- Purchase a vehicle online
- Collect all letter scraps and submarine parts and complete missions
- Prostitute service and booty call
- Hold up a store
- Stunt Jumps, Under Bridges, Knife Flights (50% needed for completion, but 100% for Show Off and Close Shave)
- Bar, strip club, cinema, darts with a friend
- Cinema solo
- Walk and fetch with Chop (Franklin)
- Purchase any 5 properties
- At least 14 random events (encountered throughout the game, marked by white minimap flashes and red/blue dots).
San Andreas Sightseer (Explore all of Los Santos and Blaine County)
Most of the map is unlocked by this point, except mountainous and large water areas. Altitude doesn’t count. Trevor and aerial vehicles are ideal for exploring missed areas and islands off the coast. Note: only 95% map coverage is required.
Kifflom! (Complete your path to enlightenment… or not.)
This lengthy trophy is Michael-exclusive and involves joining the Epsilon Program cult. Visit “epsilonprogram.com” in-game and take the test (answers don’t matter).

An Epsilon mission marker appears, initiating a cutscene with Marnie, who requests a $5,000 donation.

Donate, meet Marnie again (renamed Zolag), and receive a list of five cars (four cars, one motorcycle) in north Los Santos/Vinewood Hills to deliver.

After delivering the cars, you get a “scanning device” to find three “artifacts” (junk). Donate $10,000 to proceed.

Purchase Epsilon robes for $25,000 (takes in-game days to arrive). Wear the robes for 10 consecutive in-game days (sleep in safehouse 40 times to speed up time).

Deliver a plane to Sandy Shores airfield.

Walk 5 miles in the desert while wearing robes (updates every tenth of a mile, ~30 minutes). Watch out for cougars. Alternatively, use controller stick tying to walk in circles on Sandy Shores Airfield hangar roof.

The final mission involves escorting a convoy with $2.1 million in the trunk. Choose to either complete the mission for a rusty tractor reward or betray the cult and steal the money.
A New Perspective (You played 15 hours in first person)
This trophy is cumulative across GTA V and GTA Online, progress tracked in Stats tabs in both modes. If not unlocked, switch to first-person view in single-player and go AFK as needed.

Off The Plane (Complete the Introduction)
Upon entering GTA Online for the first time, Lamar picks you up, provides a pistol, and introduces basic game elements. Follow Lamar’s instructions to complete the introduction and unlock the trophy.
Reach Rank 10 in GTA Online, during which Simeon provides a personal vehicle. At Rank 10, Lester calls, unlocking more features needed for trophy hunting (except Clean Sweep at Rank 18 and Dialling Digits at Rank 20).
Run Like The Wind (Survive with a Bounty on your head)
Bounties are placed on players for stealing cars or antagonizing others. To get a bounty, be at least Rank 10 and have met Lester. Have another player place a bounty on you, or steal enough cars for an NPC bounty. Survive an in-game day (48 real-time minutes) in Freemode and killable without being killed by another player (natural deaths/suicides don’t count). Solo lobby recommended to avoid other players. Watch for inactivity timers.
Clean Sweep (Finish a Gang Attack without dying and kill at least 10 enemies)
Gang Attacks unlock at Rank 18 (red circles on the map). Complete one solo with good cover, killing 10-30 enemies without dying.

Stick Up Kid (Hold up all 20 stores)
Rob all 20 stores across the map. Robbed stores are marked with a green checkmark. Successfully exit the store after robbing it to count; escaping the wanted level is not required.
Crew Cut (Complete a job as member of a crew)
Join a crew via Rockstar Games Social Club (e.g., public Rockstar-made crews like Payne Killers (MP3) or IGN Crew (IGN)). Join a random job with a crew member or use “Join Crew Members” in the Online tab to find help.
Dialling Digits (Call for a Backup Helicopter for the first time)
Unlocked at Rank 20. Call Merryweather and select “Backup Helicopter.”
American Dream (Own an apartment, garage and insured vehicle)
Purchased naturally through gameplay. Apartments are purchasable via phone after some playtime. The cheapest apartment is around $80,000 in Paleto Bay, but city apartments (starting at a few hundred thousand) are recommended for better locations and garages.
Stage 4.2: Boostable Online Trophies
- Numero Uno
- The Midnight Club
- Unnatural Selection
- Backseat Driver

Numero Uno (Obtain first place in every competitive game type)
Boostable due to low player counts in many game modes. Requires winning 16 activities against another player (quitting players void progress). Track progress via Awards section in the Online pause menu or manually. Activities include:
- Arm Wrestling, Darts, Parachuting, Golf, Shooting Range, Tennis (Tennis requires a full game, others are short).
- Race wins of each type: Land, Bike, Sea, Air, Rally, GTA (Rally needs 4 players). Personal vehicles count for The Midnight Club trophy.
- Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch (set to “Normal,” minimum 5 minutes or 10 kills, 5 minutes recommended).
- Gang Attack and Survival (Clean Sweep and Unnatural Selection trophies count).
The Midnight Club (Use custom vehicles to win 5 races)
Win 5 races of any type using a personal vehicle. Combine with Numero Uno progress.
Unnatural Selection (Complete all 10 waves of a Survival)
Boostable due to diluted matchmaking making it hard to find Survival games. Easiest Survivals are Boneyard and Processed due to cover availability.
Backseat Driver (Direct a driver to 1st place in Rally mode)
Requires four players: two cars, driver and co-driver in each. First-place co-driver gets the trophy and Rally race win for Numero Uno. Criminal Records race (Bolingbroke Penitentiary laps) is quickest. Set to one lap for ~30-second races and rotate boosters.
Enjoy Your Stay (Participate in everything Los Santos has to offer)
Mostly combined with Numero Uno (golf, tennis, darts, arm wrestling, shooting range participation). Also requires:
- Rob a store (done for Stick Up Kid)
- Buy a lap dance at the strip club
- Buy clothes (tutorial requirement)
- Buy a torso tattoo (arm/leg tattoos may not count)
- Change hairstyle
Full Refund (Kill the thief that mugged you)
Players Rank 50+ can call Lamar for a mugger attack on another player. The mugger NPC steals money and attempts escape. Kill the mugger before they escape in an open area (airport runway, desert) without nearby vehicles. Have cash on hand; trophy may not pop if nothing is stolen.
Stage 5: The Online Grind
- Three-Bit Gangster
- Making Moves
- Above The Law
- Decorated
Three-Bit Gangster, Making Moves, Above the Law (Reach Rank 100 in GTA Online)
Reaching Rank 100 (1,584,350 RP) is the likely final trophy. Efficient RP methods:
- Minimize Freemode time (freemode events give minimal RP).
- Deathmatches (high RP for wins and killstreaks).
- Contact missions (small RP per kill adds up).
- Casino Lucky Wheel (daily spin, potential RP rewards).
- Heists (poor RP relative to time, good for money only).
- Awards (800 RP each, earned for various in-game actions, see Decorated trophy).
- Avoid Adversary modes unless double/triple RP bonus is active.
- Weekly Rockstar bonuses on game modes (contact missions become very lucrative RP-wise).
Decorated (Earn 30 Platinum Awards)
Easier now due to numerous updates and added awards. Likely achievable naturally by Rank 100. 20-25 awards can come naturally. Platinum awards grant 800 RP each, speeding up Rank 100 grind. Awards range from weapon kills to haircuts to Heist completions.
Stage 6: Heists (OPTIONAL)
Heists were a major 2015 update. While no longer the highest paying, they are still fun. Best attempted after game familiarity, not immediately at unlock Rank 12.
Be Prepared, In The Name of Science, Dead Presidents, Parole Day (complete all 5 Heists)
Requires a 4-player team (Fleeca Job is 2-player). Lester introduces Heists, starting with the Fleeca Job. Follow the storyline: Prison Break, Humane Labs Raid, Series A, Pacific Standard. Finale completions unlock trophies. Setups are optional for trophies but recommended for familiarity, Decorated trophy progress, and enjoyment.
Shot Caller (Invest your hard earned cash to set up a Heist)
Unlocked as host during Heist setup by investing in fees and crew payouts.
Four Way (As Heist leader, set the finale cut as 25% across all players)
As Heist leader, set 25% cut for each player in the finale payout distribution. First opportunity is Prison Break.
Live a Little (Spend a total of $8,000,000 purchasing vehicles included in the Heists update)
Spend $8 million on specific Heists update vehicles, money source doesn’t matter. Vehicles are discounted after associated mission completion. Vehicles include:
- Hydra, $3,990,000 ($3,000,000 after Humane Labs Raid “EMP” setup)
- Valkyrie, $3,790,500 ($2,850,000 after Humane Labs Raid finale)
- Principe Lectro, $997,500 ($750,000 after Pacific Standard finale)
- HVY Insurgent, $897,750 ($675,000 after Humane Labs Raid finale)
- Prison Bus, $731,500 ($550,000 after Prison Break finale)
- Karin Armored Kuruma $698,250 ($525,000 after Fleeca Job finale)
Can’t Touch This (Complete a Heist finale without taking any damage)
Easier than it sounds. Fleeca Job finale: no bank hostility, armored getaway vehicle. Cops on highway have minimal chance to damage you inside the Kuruma.
Mastermind (Earn 25 platinum medals across Heist setups and finales)
Earn 25 platinum medals across Heist missions. Platinum medal criteria is not fully defined, likely tied to kills and objective completion efficiency. Fleeca Job setup “Scope Out” and “Kuruma” often award platinum to the driver. Focus on driving in these setups for platinum medals.
Stage 7: Doomsday Heists (OPTIONAL)
Doomsday Heists are significantly harder than original Heists. Recommended for Rank 80+, ideally Rank 100. Requires Facility purchase ($2-3 million+).
Getting Started, The Data Breaches, The Bogdan Problem, The Doomsday Scenario, A World Worth Saving (Set up and complete all 3 Heists)
Trophies for setting up the first Heist and completing each of the three finales. Follow the story of Avon Hertz and AI Cliffford. Heist progression involves intel gathering, vehicle theft, and weakening defenses. Heist titles are: The Data Breaches, The Bogdan Problem, The Doomsday Scenario.
Orbital Obliteration (Kill another player with the Orbital Cannon)
Purchase Orbital Cannon in Facility. One shot costs $750,000, instantly kills any player (with exceptions).
Elitist, Masterminds (Complete all 3 Elite Challenges and the Criminal Mastermind challenge in the Doomsday Heist)
Hardest trophies in the game. Elite Challenges require specific criteria in each finale:
- The Data Breaches: Under 5:30, 78 kills, no deaths.
- The Bogdan Problem: Under 15:00, Avenger <5% damage, no deaths.
- The Doomsday Scenario: Under 30:00, 150 headshots, no hacking mistakes, no deaths.
Criminal Mastermind: Complete all preps, setups, and finales in order, same team, hard mode, no lives lost at any point (except preps). Server issues and bugs make this extremely challenging. “Close Application” speed-dial recommended for crashes/disconnections; quick application close and relaunch can sometimes save a run. Experienced teams may take 8-12 hours. Focus on survival over objective completion to avoid restarts.
Stage 8: Rockstar Editor (OPTIONAL)
Rockstar Editor trophies are tied to using the in-game video editor.
Vinewood Visionary, Majestic (Create and export 10 videos)
In single player or Online, hold D-Pad down and press X to start recording. Record short clips. Enter Rockstar Editor in pause menu, create a New Project, export videos (no editing needed). Shorter videos export faster.
Humans of Los Santos (Unlock all Special Characters and enter Director Mode as an actor from this category)
Unlock 12 “Special Characters” across Los Santos and Blaine County by interacting with them. Use taxi to travel to locations efficiently. Video guide available for locations.
First Time Director, Ensemble Piece (Unlock All Story Characters and enter Director Mode as an actor from this category)
If 100% single-player completion is achieved, all Story Characters are unlocked in Director Mode. Enter Director Mode with any story character to unlock these trophies.
Cult Movie (Enter Director Mode as Cris Formage)
If “Kifflom!” trophy is obtained, Cris Formage is unlocked in Director Mode. Enter Director Mode as Cris Formage to unlock this trophy.
Location Scout (Visit all Locations in Director Mode)
Enter Director Mode with any character. Open Interaction Menu (touchpad), select “Location” option. “Visit” all locations (loads each location briefly). Takes 5-6 minutes.
Method Actor (Enter Director Mode using any of your GTA Online characters)
Enter Director Mode using your GTA Online character.
Animal Lover, Cryptozoologist (You unlocked all animals for use in Director mode… or did you?)
Find 21 LAND-based peyote plants across Los Santos and Blaine County (underwater plants not required). Collecting all 21 unlocks animals in Director Mode. Entering Director Mode unlocks Cryptozoologist. Enter Director Mode as any animal to unlock Animal Lover. Video guide available for plant locations.
