So, the moment you’ve been waiting for… what is today’s Wordle answer for game #1,341?

The answer is MADLY.

Hello Wordlers! Today’s puzzle was indeed a bit of a challenge. With only ‘A’ and ‘L’ from the ten most common Wordle letters appearing in the answer, it could have thrown many players off.

My usual starting word, ORATE, which includes the top five most frequent letters, only revealed a single yellow ‘A’. This left a staggering 161 possible solutions!

However, WordleBot’s best Wordle start words proved their worth once again. Words like SLIDE, TABLE, or DEALT would have significantly narrowed down the possibilities to 20, 11, and just four, respectively.

On my second attempt, I focused on incorporating ‘L’, ‘I’, ‘S’, ‘N’, and ‘C’ and played NAILS. This turned out to be a great move, turning both ‘A’ and ‘L’ green and reducing the possible answers to just five, according to WordleBot*.

Next, I tried DALLY, which further refined the answer by turning ‘Y’ green and ‘D’ yellow. At this point, the answer pattern was clear: ?ADLY.

Only two words came to mind: BADLY and MADLY. I unfortunately guessed BADLY first, but thankfully, MADLY was an easy final guess on my fifth try.

Hopefully, you fared better than me today, Wordlers! See you tomorrow for the next puzzle.

* WordleBot indicated the remaining options were: BADLY, MADLY, CAULK, DALLY, and GAYLY.

Yesterday’s Wordle Answer

Reading this later? The Wordle answer for game #1,340 was INDIE.

Yesterday’s Wordle was also a bit tricky. Only 34 Wordle answers begin with ‘I’, and this puzzle doubled down by featuring ‘I’ twice!

‘I’ isn’t among the five most common Wordle letters either, so my go-to start word, ORATE, only revealed a green ‘E’, leaving a daunting 101 possibilities.

Again, WordleBot’s best Wordle start words showed their advantage. PLANE would have left 36 answers, CRANE just 24, and TRIED a mere ten.

For my second guess, I aimed to incorporate ‘L’, ‘I’, ‘S’, ‘N’, and ‘C’ around the confirmed letters.

With only a green ‘E’, SLICE seemed like a good choice. It added a yellow ‘I’ to the mix and narrowed down the possibilities to nine, according to WordleBot*.

IMBUE was my next guess, which turned ‘I’ green but didn’t reveal any other letters.

However, this move effectively eliminated all but the correct answer. After a bit of staring at the remaining letters, INDIE clicked!

Hope you solved it quickly, Wordlers! Join us again tomorrow for the next Wordle.

* WordleBot’s list of remaining options included: HINGE, GENIE, PIXIE, GIMME, MIDGE, BINGE, INDIE, PIQUE, and IMBUE.

Wordle Tips – How to Win at Wordle

Want to boost your Wordle win rate? Tom’s Guide experts have compiled some top tips to improve your game:

The most crucial advice is to utilize one of the best Wordle start words. This cannot be emphasized enough – it truly makes a significant difference.

Without a strategic starting word, you’re essentially guessing blindly, trying to identify the correct letters from the 26 possibilities. However, clever analysts have done the math and identified optimal starting words based on letter frequency in English and within the Wordle answer list itself. So, leverage their research!

Secondly, pay close attention to letter combinations, especially at the beginning and end of words. Common combinations like SH, ST, CR, and CH appear frequently in Wordle answers.

Vowels are also critical. While not every Wordle answer has multiple vowels, many do, and some even contain three. A good starting word should incorporate a couple of vowels. If your initial guesses don’t reveal any vowels, make sure to include one or two in your subsequent attempts. And don’t forget ‘Y’ – it often acts as a vowel and appears at the end of numerous words.

Finally, don’t hesitate to test out different possibilities. As long as you don’t press ‘Enter’, you can experiment with potential answers to see how they look on the Wordle grid. Input likely letters, including those you know are in the word, and then mentally swap out letters to explore other options. This technique is particularly useful when the answer is less common or not immediately obvious.

The game’s popularity exploded towards the end of 2021, going viral in January 2022 as players worldwide discovered its appeal. Its success led to The New York Times acquiring Wordle for a seven-figure sum in early February 2022, making it part of NYT Games.

Wordle is available for free on the NYT Games website. Both the NYT and creator Josh Wardle have confirmed it will remain free to play. Despite some player speculation, Wordle hasn’t become harder since the NYT acquisition.

Wordle’s gameplay is simple yet engaging: guess a five-letter word in six attempts. Each guess reveals which letters are in the target word and whether they are in the correct position.

Green indicates a letter in the correct position. Yellow means the letter is in the word but in the wrong place. Gray signifies the letter is not in the word at all.
