Unveiling the Dungeons and Destiny Campaign Guide: From Homebrew to Fan-Favorite

Originally conceived as a Star Wars: Edge of the Empire homebrew, the Dungeons & Destiny campaign guide emerged from a simple desire: a player named Kitty wanted a pet war beast for her regular 5e game. This personal wish sparked the creation of what would become a comprehensive guide for Destiny-themed tabletop role-playing.

Initially, the scope was limited to just this war beast concept. Kitty wasn’t interested in a mere reskin; she envisioned a unique creature with distinct attacks and abilities, setting it apart from typical beasts within the 5e framework. This desire for originality marked the beginning of the Dungeons & Destiny project’s expansion.

The project quickly snowballed beyond a single creature. The question arose: why limit the possibilities? This led to the inclusion of iconic Destiny elements – Eliksni, Hive, and Cabal – not just as monsters, but as playable races. Furthermore, the team began developing new classes tailored for Guardians, mirroring the player archetypes from the Destiny universe.

In an astonishingly short span of under three months, Kitty’s initial request blossomed into a collaborative project involving over a hundred passionate individuals. Dungeons & Destiny transformed into a near-complete reimagining of the 5e system, meticulously adapted to capture the essence of the Destiny setting. And, importantly, Kitty did indeed get her pet war beast, the catalyst for this expansive campaign guide.
