Patch 7.1 brings significant adjustments to action potencies across all roles in Final Fantasy XIV, aiming to refine DPS balance and enhance gameplay fluidity. These updates touch upon various aspects, from action levels and area of effect to hit detection, ensuring a smoother and more balanced combat experience. This article serves as an essential update to your Ffxiv Job Guides, highlighting the critical changes you need to be aware of.
Tank Job Adjustments
Across all tank jobs, abilities designed to prevent incapacitation, such as Hallowed Ground and Living Dead, have been tweaked to apply their status effects more rapidly. This adjustment is intended to allow tanks to utilize these crucial defensive tools more effectively when facing substantial enemy damage.
Paladin
For Paladins, the level requirement for learning Intervene has been reduced. This change aligns Paladin’s mobility options more closely with those available to other tank jobs. Furthermore, the effective range of Cover has been increased, making it easier to use in dynamic combat situations.
Dark Knight
Dark Knights will find that the required level to learn Dark Missionary has been lowered, synchronizing it with the defensive party abilities of other tank roles. To bolster survivability against groups of enemies, the cure potency of Abyssal Drain has been improved. Additionally, Carve and Spit, its single-target counterpart, now includes the added effect of restoring the Dark Knight’s own HP. Addressing physical defense disparities among tanks, Dark Mind and Dark Missionary will now also mitigate physical damage, enhancing their defensive utility.
Gunbreaker
Gunbreakers benefit from a reduced cartridge cost for Double Down, promoting easier and more frequent use. While this change facilitates greater use of Burst Strike and Hypervelocity, the potency of Hypervelocity has been slightly decreased to maintain overall balance. Despite this, Gunbreakers are projected to experience an overall DPS increase. Survivability is also enhanced with an increased cure potency for Aurora. Mirroring changes for other tanks to balance physical defense, Heart of Light will now also reduce physical damage taken.
DPS Job Adjustments
Dragoon
To mitigate DPS loss when distance from an enemy is necessary, the potency of Piercing Talon has been increased for Dragoons. Elusive Jump has also been enhanced with an additional effect that further boosts Piercing Talon’s potency, providing more flexibility in ranged combat scenarios. To streamline burst damage phases and reduce action bloat, Dragoons will no longer gain multiple stacks of Nastrond Ready. This significant change to Nastrond Ready has been balanced by adjustments to other Dragoon actions to preserve overall balance within melee DPS roles.
Ninja
Ninjas experience a significant quality of life improvement with Ten Chi Jin no longer being canceled upon movement, increasing its ease of use and flexibility in rotations. Dokumori has been transformed into an area-of-effect attack, enhancing Ninja’s capabilities against groups of enemies. To address ranged DPS concerns, the potency of Throwing Dagger has been increased. However, it’s important to note that this adjustment is designed to supplement Ninjutsu, which remains the primary source of high ranged damage for Ninjas.
Black Mage
Mobility for Black Mages is improved with reduced cast times for Flare and Despair. Ley Lines is now a charged action, making it more adaptable for use outside of burst damage windows and enhancing strategic placement during encounters. While the potency of Enochian has been slightly reduced, the combined effect of these changes is expected to result in an overall DPS increase for Black Mages.
Summoner
Summoners see a simplification in their rotation with the combo requirement for Crimson Strike being removed. Execution of Crimson Strike is now contingent on the “Crimson Strike Ready” status effect, streamlining its use. Additionally, a correction has been implemented for Inferno, Earthen Fury, and Aerial Blast. These actions were incorrectly set to 750 potency, despite their descriptions indicating 800. This has been rectified to ensure their in-game values align with their intended potency of 800.
Healer Job Adjustments
A universal quality of life improvement for healers is that Esuna now has an instant cast time, enhancing responsiveness in cleansing debuffs.
White Mage
White Mages benefit from reduced cast times for Holy and Holy III. This allows for weaving abilities between spell casts, increasing flexibility and potential DPS contribution during healing downtime.
Scholar
Scholars will experience improved MP management thanks to reduced MP costs for area-of-effect healing actions. Furthermore, a correction has been applied to Embrace and Seraphic Veil. These actions were incorrectly set to a cure potency of 150, despite their descriptions stating 180. After careful review, their cure potency has been increased to 180 to match their intended values without disrupting game balance.
Astrologian
Astrologians gain enhanced area-of-effect capabilities with increased area of effect for Gravity and Gravity II. This improvement is particularly beneficial when dealing with groups of enemies, especially those that include larger targets, ensuring all enemies are effectively hit.
These Patch 7.1 adjustments are crucial for all FFXIV players, especially those who rely on job guides to optimize their gameplay. Understanding these changes is vital for adapting strategies and maximizing performance in Eorzea. Keep your job guides updated to reflect these latest refinements and ensure you’re playing your job to its fullest potential!
