Your Vote Matters in Every Election. Protecting our democracy relies on active participation in every election. As a registered voter in California, the upcoming General Election on November 5, 2024, offers you a significant opportunity to shape our government. You will be voting on important elected offices at all levels, from local to national, and directly influencing state and local policies through ballot propositions and measures.

This Unbiased Voter Guide is designed to assist you in making informed choices regarding statewide candidates and ballot measures for the November 5th election. Inside, you’ll find essential details about voting dates and locations, information on the United States Senate races, comprehensive explanations of state ballot propositions, and a clear outline of your rights as a voter in California.

To enhance voter accessibility and participation, California offers multiple ways to vote over an extended period. Here are the critical dates and options for the upcoming election:

Ballots Mailed to Every Registered Voter: By October 7, 2024, every registered voter in California will receive their official ballot in the mail.

  • Mail-In Ballot Return: You can return your completed ballot by mail in the provided postage-paid envelope. To be counted, your ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day, November 5, 2024, and received by your county elections office within 7 days of Election Day.
  • Early Voting Period Begins: Starting October 7, 2024, early voting locations will be available. Check with your county elections office for locations and hours, as many counties offer multiple early voting sites for your convenience.
  • Ballot Drop-Off Locations Open: Secure ballot drop-off boxes will be available no later than October 8, 2024. These locations provide a safe and convenient way to return your ballot before Election Day.
  • Vote Centers Open in Voter’s Choice Act Counties: In counties participating in the Voter’s Choice Act, vote centers will open starting October 26, 2024. These centers allow you to vote in person, drop off your ballot, and receive assistance if needed.
  • Election Day: November 5, 2024 is the final day to cast your ballot in the General Election. Polls and vote centers will be open on this day.
