Terraria Progression Guide: Leveling Up After Plantera

So, you’ve conquered Plantera in Terraria. Congratulations! But what comes next? This guide will walk you through the essential steps to continue your adventure, focusing on powerful gear upgrades and challenging bosses that await.

After defeating Plantera, the world of Terraria opens up even further. One immediate benefit is the Truffle NPC now sells the Autohammer for 1 Platinum Coin. This crafting station is absolutely crucial because it unlocks the ability to create Shroomite Armor, a top-tier armor set for ranged characters.

Crafting Shroomite Armor: A DPS Powerhouse

Shroomite Armor is a game-changer for ranged damage dealers. It offers a unique “stealth mode” when standing still, gradually increasing weapon damage, critical strike chance, and knockback up to a massive +60% damage, +10% critical chance, and +50% knockback. This stealth effect makes it incredibly potent for boss fights and challenging encounters.

To craft a full set of Shroomite Armor, you’ll need:

  • 66 Chlorophyte Bars
  • 990 Glowing Mushrooms

Remember to craft the Shroomite Headgear and Shroomite Mask. The Headgear boosts arrow damage, while the Mask enhances bullet damage, covering your primary ranged weapon options.

Optional Wing Upgrade: Butterfly Wings

If you’re finding yourself struggling with mobility, consider upgrading your wings to Butterfly Wings. While optional, they provide a noticeable improvement in flight capability.

To craft Butterfly Wings:

  1. Hunt Moths in the Underground Jungle. They are rare enemies but have a 50% chance to drop Butterfly Dust.
  2. Combine Butterfly Dust with 20 Souls of Flight at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil.

Dungeon Delving for Ninja Gear and Ranged Weaponry

Next, head back to the Dungeon to farm for valuable items that will enhance your combat prowess.

Master Ninja Gear: Enhanced Mobility and Defense

The Master Ninja Gear is a fantastic accessory that provides a chance to dodge attacks and an improved dash ability. It’s a great replacement for the Shield of Cthulhu, offering more offensive and defensive utility.

To obtain the Master Ninja Gear:

  1. Defeat Bone Lee (ninja skeletons) in the Dungeon to acquire the Tabi and Black Belt.
  2. Craft Tiger Climbing Gear using Climbing Claws and Shoe Spikes.
  3. Combine the Tabi, Black Belt, and Tiger Climbing Gear at a Tinkerer’s Workshop to create the Master Ninja Gear.

Rifle Scope: Preparing for a Powerful Upgrade

While in the Dungeon, hunt Skeleton Snipers to obtain the Rifle Scope. You’ll need this later to craft an even stronger ranged accessory.

Tactical Shotgun and Sniper Rifle (Optional)

The Dungeon is also a source for powerful ranged weapons like the Tactical Shotgun and Sniper Rifle. While not essential, these weapons can significantly boost your damage output and are worth farming for if you have the time and patience.

Duke Fishron: A Tough Aquatic Challenge

With your upgraded gear, you’re now ready to face Duke Fishron, a challenging boss summoned in the Ocean biome after Hardmode. Duke Fishron drops incredibly valuable items, making him a crucial step in your progression.

For Duke Fishron, consider the following equipment:

  • Armor: Shroomite Armor (offensive) or Hallowed Armor (defensive if you need more survivability).
  • Main Weapon: Megashark, Tactical Shotgun, or Sniper Rifle with Chlorophyte Bullets.
  • Secondary Weapon: Daedalus Stormbow with Holy Arrows for the final phase.
  • Equipment: Butterfly Wings, Master Ninja Gear, Ankh Shield, Charm of Myths, Ranger Emblem, Magic Quiver/Stalker’s Quiver.

Duke Fishron’s drops are incredibly rewarding. Aim to obtain the Fishron Wings, the best pre-Moon Lord wings, and the Tsunami Bow, an exceptionally powerful weapon that will make the next boss, Golem, much easier.

Golem: The Jungle Temple Guardian

With the Tsunami Bow from Duke Fishron, Golem becomes a significantly easier boss. Golem is found in the Jungle Temple and is the next major hurdle in your Terraria progression.

Recommended equipment for Golem:

  • Armor: Shroomite Armor
  • Main Weapon: Tsunami Bow
  • Equipment: Fishron Wings, Master Ninja Gear, Ranger Emblem, Avenger Emblem, Charm of Myths, Ankh Shield, Magic Quiver/Stalker’s Quiver, Celestial Stone/Moon Stone.

Upgrading to Sniper Scope

Golem also drops the Eye of the Golem. Combine it with your Avenger Emblem to create the Destroyer Emblem. Finally, combine the Destroyer Emblem with the Rifle Scope you farmed earlier to craft the Sniper Scope. This powerful accessory significantly boosts ranged damage and critical strike chance.

With the Sniper Scope in hand, you are well-prepared to face the final stages of Terraria! Good luck, and have fun progressing!
