This War Within Enchanting leveling guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough to quickly and efficiently raise your Enchanting skill from 1 to 100.
Enchanting is a versatile profession that pairs well with any other, as it doesn’t rely on gathering professions for materials. Combining it with Herbalism, Mining, or Skinning can create opportunities to generate extra gold while exploring and engaging in various activities in WoW. Tailoring is also a popular complementary profession, as it shares the characteristic of not requiring a gathering skill.

Materials Shopping List
Below is an estimated shopping list for materials needed to reach Enchanting skill level 80. The materials for levels 80-100 are intentionally omitted due to the wide range of alternatives available through drops, vendors, and specializations. Purchasing these later based on your specific needs and market prices is generally more efficient.

Racial Bonuses
Blood Elf characters gain a +5 bonus to Enchanting skill, while Kul Tirans receive +2.
These racial bonuses can be advantageous during leveling, as they allow recipes to remain orange (guaranteeing skill points) for a longer duration. This can potentially save gold by allowing you to gain skill points from lower-level, and often cheaper, recipes for a few extra points.
Utilizing Enchanting Vellum
Maximize your profits by placing all your enchants onto Enchanting Vellum and listing them on the Auction House. This allows other players to purchase and apply your enchants.
To streamline the process, you can designate Enchanting Vellum as the “Optional Target” within your profession window. This eliminates the need to manually click on the vellum each time you craft an enchant. Enchanting Vellum can be purchased from Enchanting Supply Vendors, typically located near profession trainers.
Disenchanting for Skill Gains
Before embarking on your Enchanting leveling, disenchant any unwanted gear accumulated from questing, dungeons, world quests, or other activities. Disenchanting can grant skill points up to level 25, providing a helpful initial boost.
First Craft Bonus Optimization
In War Within Enchanting, crafting an item for the first time grants 1x Khaz Algar Enchanting Knowledge. This Knowledge is a valuable resource with weekly caps from various sources. To maximize your Knowledge gain, this guide is structured to leverage the “First Craft Bonus” from most enchants while they are still capable of providing skill points, rather than leveling and then returning to craft grey recipes for the bonus.
Leveling 1-15
- 10 – 15: Craft 5x Glimmering Critical Strike – Requires 25x Storm Dust
Leveling 15-18
Craft one of each of the following enchants to obtain the First Craft bonuses:
- 1x Mirror Powder – Requires 1x Leyline Residue, 3x Storm Dust, 1x Gleaming Shard
- 1x Whisper of Armored Avoidance – Requires 10x Storm Dust
- 1x Whisper of Silken Avoidance – Requires 10x Storm Dust
Leveling 18-27
- 3x Runed Bismuth Rod – Requires 3x Bismuth Rod, 30x Storm Dust
Bismuth Rods are available for purchase from Enchanting Supply Vendors located near the trainer.
Resourcefulness Tip: Inspect the secondary stats on the Runed Bismuth Rods you craft. If any possess the Resourcefulness stat, equip that rod while leveling to potentially save materials. The others can be sold. If none have Resourcefulness, simply choose any rod for now.
Enchanting Specializations in War Within
Upon reaching Enchanting skill level 25, you unlock access to Enchanting specializations, adding depth and customization to your profession.
Recommended First Specialization
For an effective start, it’s recommended to choose Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment as your initial specialization. This specialization offers a strong foundation for progression, which will be further explained in the subsequent steps.
Ultimately, you will be able to master all four specializations, so your initial choice is not permanent. Unlocking the second specialization requires 50 skill points, the third 60, and the fourth 75.
For a detailed exploration of each specialization and sub-specialization, including example builds to get you started, refer to the comprehensive War Within Enchanting Specialization Guide.
Leveling 27-50: Deceptive Decorations Focus
By investing 5 points into the overarching Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment specialization, and subsequently 15 points into the Deceptive Decorations sub-specialization, you gain access to 22 new recipes.
These recipes create consumable items that transform your character into various races, such as the Gleeful Glamour – Worgen, which transforms you into a Worgen. Crafting each of these recipes for the first time yields First Craft bonuses, granting a total of 22 knowledge points for a 20-point investment, along with approximately 23 Enchanting skill points.
Crucially, these glamour items frequently appear as NPC crafting orders. Learning these recipes is vital to fulfill these orders, as NPC Crafting Orders will be a primary source of Artisan’s Acuity in War Within.
Materials Needed for Deceptive Decorations Leveling: (List of materials would be placed here in a complete guide – original article omits this)
Step-by-Step Deceptive Decorations Leveling:
- Unlock the Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment specialization.
- Allocate 5 points into Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment.
- Learn the Deceptive Decorations sub-specialization and invest 5 points.
- Craft the initial 6 Gleeful Glamour recipes you’ve learned.
- Invest another 5 points into the Deceptive Decorations sub-specialization.
- Utilize the Filter button in your profession window and check “First Craft bonus” to easily identify uncrafted recipes.
- Craft the newly available Gleeful Glamour recipes, then invest the final 5 points into the sub-specialization.
- Craft the remaining Gleeful Glamour recipes, but avoid investing further points into the sub-specialization. The last 5 points do not unlock new recipes within this sub-specialization.
- If you haven’t yet reached skill level 50, utilize the alternative recipes listed below before proceeding to the 50-70 leveling section.
Alternative Leveling Recipes (35-40)
If the Deceptive Decorations approach is not preferred, consider this alternative leveling method:
- 35 – 40: 5x Whisper of Armored Speed – Requires 50x Storm Dust
Total Materials for Alternative Leveling: (Material list would be here in a complete guide)
Leveling 50-70
- 56-60: 4x Whisper of Silken Speed – Requires 40x Storm Dust
Leveling 70-80
If the Ringing Deeps Ingot is prohibitively expensive on your server, you can temporarily skip crafting these weapon enchants and proceed to the next section, which features more cost-effective recipes.
Craft one of each of these weapon enchants to take advantage of First Craft bonuses:
- 1x Council’s Guile – Requires 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal
- 1x Oathsworn’s Tenacity – Requires 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal
- 1x Stonebound Artistry – Requires 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal
- 1x Stormrider’s Fury – Requires 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal
Craft one additional weapon enchant of your choice to reach skill level 80. Check the Auction House prices to determine which enchant is currently selling for the highest profit margin.
- 1x [Any weapon Enchant] – Requires 1x Ringing Deeps Ingot, 50x Storm Dust, 5x Gleaming Shard, 1x Refulgent Crystal
Leveling 80-91: Severed Enchants
These Severed enchants offer a cost-effective path for leveling from 80-91. They are relatively inexpensive to craft and provide 2 skill points per craft. Alternatively, you could skip this section and proceed directly to the recipes in the next step, but those are generally more expensive to create.
Each Severed enchant shares the same material cost. Crafting 6 of any of them will require:
- 6x [Material for Severed Enchants] (Material list would be here in a complete guide)
The Chant of Burrowing Rapidity is likely to be the most affordable recipe available for purchase. However, it’s advisable to compare Auction House prices for all three Chant enchants to ensure you are making the most economical choice.
