Classic WoW First Aid Guide: Leveling 1-300 FAST and EASY

First Aid is an invaluable secondary skill in Classic WoW, available to all classes and professions. It allows you to quickly heal yourself or allies outside of combat, reducing downtime and increasing your efficiency while leveling or raiding. This guide will provide you with the fastest and easiest way to level your First Aid skill from 1 to 300 in Classic World of Warcraft.

First Aid is especially beneficial for classes that lack inherent healing abilities, such as Warriors, Rogues, and Hunters. However, even classes with healing spells can find First Aid useful for topping off health between pulls or during emergencies. It’s a versatile skill that every player can benefit from.

For players still in the leveling process or starting a new character, consider using a leveling guide like Zygor’s 1-60 Leveling Guide. These guides offer in-game, step-by-step instructions to streamline your leveling experience, allowing you to level First Aid alongside your character efficiently.

Why Level First Aid in Classic WoW?

  • Self-Sufficiency: Heal yourself between fights without relying on food or waiting for regeneration, crucial for solo play and efficient questing.
  • Reduced Downtime: Get back into action faster, maximizing your leveling speed and farming efficiency.
  • Group Utility: Provide emergency healing to party members or raid members when healers are busy or unavailable.
  • No Profession Slot Required: First Aid is a secondary skill, meaning it doesn’t take up one of your primary profession slots, allowing you to have it alongside two crafting or gathering professions.
  • Essential for PvP and PvE: Healing is always valuable, whether you’re battling other players or tackling challenging raid encounters.

Classic First Aid Leveling Guide

Follow these steps to efficiently level your First Aid skill from 1 to 300.

1 – 75: Linen Bandages

  • Skill Range: 1 – 75
  • Bandage to Craft: Heavy Linen Bandage
  • Materials: Linen Cloth
  • Approximate Cloth Needed: 90 Linen Cloth for 45 Bandages

Visit a First Aid trainer in any major city to learn Apprentice First Aid and the Linen Bandage recipe. Craft Heavy Linen Bandages until your skill reaches approximately 75. You will start by crafting Linen Bandages, but switch to Heavy Linen Bandages as soon as you learn the recipe around skill level 20, as they provide faster skill gains.

75 – 150: Wool Bandages

  • Skill Range: 75 – 150
  • Bandage to Craft: Wool Bandage
  • Materials: Wool Cloth
  • Approximate Cloth Needed: 60 Wool Cloth for 60 Bandages

Return to your First Aid trainer to learn Journeyman First Aid. Train the Wool Bandage recipe and craft Wool Bandages until your skill reaches 150. Similar to Linen, you’ll begin with regular Wool Bandages, then transition to Heavy Wool Bandages (learned around skill level 100) for better skill gains.

150 – 225: Silk Bandages & Expert First Aid

  • Skill Range: 150 – 225
  • Bandage to Craft: Silk Bandage and Heavy Silk Bandage
  • Materials: Silk Cloth
  • Approximate Cloth Needed: 100 Silk Cloth for 50 Heavy Silk Bandages

To progress beyond 150 First Aid, you need to learn Expert First Aid. This requires purchasing a book called Expert First Aid – Under Wraps.

This book is sold by specific vendors for each faction:

These vendors also sell the Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage recipe, so purchase both the book and the manual! Alternatively, you can often find these items on the Auction House if you prefer to avoid traveling.

Right-click Expert First Aid – Under Wraps to learn Expert First Aid, and right-click Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage to learn the Heavy Silk Bandage recipe. Craft Heavy Silk Bandages until your skill reaches 225.

225 – 300: Mageweave & Runecloth Bandages & Artisan First Aid

  • Skill Range: 225 – 300
  • Bandages to Craft: Heavy Mageweave Bandage and Heavy Runecloth Bandage
  • Materials: Mageweave Cloth and Runecloth
  • Approximate Cloth Needed: 60 Mageweave Cloth for 30 Heavy Mageweave Bandages, and 30 Runecloth for 15 Heavy Runecloth Bandages

To train past 225 First Aid and become an Artisan First Aider, you must complete a quest chain starting with Alliance Trauma / Horde Trauma (optional, but guides you to the quest giver) leading to the crucial Triage / Triage quest.

The quest givers are:

Important: Bring approximately 60 Mageweave Cloth and 30 Runecloth with you when you go to complete the Triage quest, as you will learn the Heavy Mageweave Bandage and Heavy Runecloth Bandage recipes from the quest giver upon completion and turn-in of subsequent quests!

How to Complete the Triage Quest

The Triage quest requires you to heal injured patients in a timed scenario. Here are some tips to make it easier:

  • NPC Health Bars: Enable NPC health bars by pressing CTRL + V or checking “Show NPC names” in Interface Options. This makes it easier to monitor patient health.
  • Third-Person Camera: Zoom your camera out to third person to get a wider view of the room and patients.
  • Action Bar Bandages: Place the Triage Bandages provided by the doctor onto your action bar for quick access. Do not use your own bandages. You can also bind them to a key for even faster healing.
  • Positioning: Stand in the center of the room to easily reach all patients.
  • Pre-Selection: As you finish healing one patient, left-click to pre-select the next patient. As soon as your current heal completes, activate the bandage from your action bar to immediately begin healing the pre-selected patient. This saves valuable seconds.
  • Prioritize Patients: Understand patient urgency:
    • Undead Patient (Critically Injured): Dies after you heal 2 other patients. Heal first!
    • Troll Patient (Badly Injured): Dies after you heal 4 other patients. Heal second.
    • Orc Patient (Injured): Longest survival time. Heal last.

Focus on healing the Undead and Troll patients first to ensure success. However, with efficient bandage application, you can generally heal patients in any order and still complete the quest. Once you have saved 15 patients, turn in the quest immediately to Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen or Doctor Gregory Victor to learn Artisan First Aid and unlock training beyond 225!

225 – 300: Heavy Mageweave and Heavy Runecloth Bandages

  • Skill Range: 225 – 290: Heavy Mageweave Bandage
  • Skill Range: 290 – 300: Heavy Runecloth Bandage

After completing the Triage quest and related follow up quests, speak to Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen / Doctor Gregory Victor again to learn the Heavy Mageweave Bandage and Heavy Runecloth Bandage recipes.

Craft Heavy Mageweave Bandages until your First Aid skill reaches approximately 290. Then switch to crafting Heavy Runecloth Bandages to reach the maximum skill of 300.

Congratulations! You have now mastered First Aid in Classic WoW, reaching skill level 300. You are now equipped with a valuable skill that will aid you in your adventures across Azeroth. Good luck, and happy healing!
