Cairns in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla present a unique type of mystery, challenging players to stack stones to a specific height. While seemingly straightforward, these puzzles often require patience and a strategic approach to balance the stones effectively. A useful tip for tackling these challenges is to begin with the larger stones at the base, utilizing smaller stones for the upper, more delicate balancing act.

While not the absolute hardest, the Francia Cairns offer a compelling test of your stacking skills.
This comprehensive guide now presents solutions for every Cairn encountered in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to date, ensuring you can conquer each of these intriguing mysteries. Let’s delve into the solutions, starting with the Cairns in Francia, and then exploring those in Ireland, England, and beyond.
La Claire
- Location: Evresin, Francia
The La Claire Cairn is positioned on an uneven platform in Evresin, Francia. Despite the challenging surface, the required height for this Cairn is relatively modest. Begin by placing the largest stone on the highest point of the platform to establish a stable base.
Next, stack three medium-sized stones directly on top of each other, building upwards from your base. To complete the La Claire Cairn, use the small, chunky stone as the summit, positioning it upright. You will find that one stone remains unused after completing this configuration.
Falaises D’albatre
- Location: Evresin, Francia
The Falaises D’albatre Cairn in Evresin, Francia, is considered one of the simpler puzzles in the game, thanks to its easily reachable goal height. To solve it, start by removing one stone from the platform entirely, leaving the others in place.
Take the largest stone and place it on top of the remaining stone on the platform to form the initial stack. Then, take the stone that was originally beside the largest one and position it on top of the stack, creating a slight slant. Don’t worry about the slant; use one of the last two stones to level the top by placing it on the highest point of the incline. This should provide sufficient height to complete the Falaises D’albatre Cairn.
Guido De Roca
- Location: Amienois, Francia
The Guido De Roca Cairn, located in Amienois, Francia, presents a more intricate challenge. Begin by clearing all stones from the platform to start with a clean slate. Position the largest stone slightly to the left of the center, standing it upright with its flattest side grounded for stability.
Next, take the thin, sloped stone and carefully place it on the incline of the base stone. This angled placement is crucial for the Guido De Roca Cairn’s unique structure. Take the larger of the two remaining stones and delicately place it on top of this sloped piece. The final stone is the smallest one, which needs to be stood upright at the very summit to reach the target height. The entire Guido De Roca structure will have a noticeable slant, requiring a steady hand to ensure it remains balanced until validated.
Les Trois Pignons
- Location: Melunois, Francia
For the Les Trois Pignons Cairn in Melunois, Francia, start with the large, somewhat misshapen rock initially positioned to the right of the center. Move it towards the center and orient it so its flattest side faces upwards, providing a level base. Then, use the even larger rock from the left side—the one closest to the edge—and carefully place it on top of the first base stone.
The next stone to add is the more uniformly shaped small stone, placed on top of the larger base. Following this, use the more slanted small stone. The final stone, as is often the case, is the most challenging to balance. Position this last rock so that the flatter of its two smaller sides rests on the sloped block beneath it, completing the Les Trois Pignons Cairn.
Dublin
- Location: Dublin, Ireland
In Dublin, Ireland, begin the Cairn by selecting the thickest and roundest rock. Place this as your foundation directly onto the rock face provided. Next, take the rock with the smallest diameter and position it on top, slightly off-center to create an intentional imbalance.
The final rock for the Dublin Cairn is the tallest of the set. Stand this rock upright, with its thinner end pointing downwards, balancing it carefully on the previous stone to successfully complete this mystery and earn a skill point.
Inchroe’s Bog
- Location: Inchroe’s Bog, Meath, Ireland
The Inchroe’s Bog Cairn in Meath, Ireland, is set on an uneven surface. Identify the flattest area, typically the top right side of the platform. Start with the smallest rock, the one furthest in the grass, as your base. The next rock is large and elongated; balance its thinner end on top of the small base rock, allowing it to lean slightly to the left.

On top of this leaning rock, place a flat and round stone. Finally, add another longer rock on top to achieve the required height for the Inchroe’s Bog Cairn.
Ben Bulben
- Location: Ben Bulben, Connacht, Ireland
To solve the Ben Bulben Cairn in Connacht, Ireland, begin by placing the rock with the flattest surface upside down on the platform, ensuring the flat side faces upwards. For the next layers, select the two rocks that are similar in size and shape. Stack them on top of each other with a slight lean to the left for balance.
The thinnest rock is placed next, positioned with its flattest side facing downwards on top of the leaning stones. The final rock is tall and slender; use its thickest end as the balance point, resting it carefully atop the existing structure to complete the Ben Bulben Cairn.
Malin Head
- Location: Malin Head, Ulster, Ireland
At Malin Head in Ulster, Ireland, start the Cairn with the largest and roundest rock, orienting it so its slanted side faces upwards and leans to the left. Take the small flat rock and fit its slant flush against the base rock to create a leveled surface on one side.
The next rock is rectangular; stand it on end with its wider end facing upwards, placed on the leveled section you’ve created. The last rock is the thinnest of the set. Place it at the very top to finalize the Malin Head Cairn, completing the last Irish mystery.
Cernewood
- Location: South of Sudwella Monastery, Ledecestrescire
For the Cernewood Cairn, south of Sudwella Monastery in Ledecestrescire, England, begin with the thickest rock and lay it on its side on the stone slab base. Next, take the large, flat rock and lay it on top of the first. Finally, place the last two stones, ensuring the larger one is on the bottom of these two, before validating your Cernewood design.
Maen Ceti
- Location: Northwest of Thieves Warren, Glowecestrescire
The Maen Ceti Cairn, northwest of Thieves Warren in Glowecestrescire, England, breaks typical Cairn rules by not using the largest rock as the base. Instead, start with the largest flat rock as your foundation. Follow this with the other flat rock, slightly smaller in size, and then place the square rock on top of that.
Finally, position the big rock with its flat side down on top of this tower and carefully place the smallest rock at the summit to complete the Maen Ceti Cairn.
Cleeve Hill
- Location: West of Belas Knap, Glowecestrescire
The Cleeve Hill Cairn, west of Belas Knap in Glowecestrescire, England, requires a delicate balancing act. Place the first stone on the far left of the rock platform. Next, take the large square stone and balance it on the sloped edge of this base rock, followed by the smaller square rock on top of the larger one.
Conclude by balancing the largest stone on the upper edge of the square stone structure and carefully placing the tiny rock at the very peak to finish the Cleeve Hill Cairn.
Titterstone Clee Hill
- Location: South of Dudmaston Lake, Sciropescire
For the Titterstone Clee Hill Cairn, south of Dudmaston Lake in Sciropescire, England, start with the largest flat stone, placing it with its flatter side facing upwards. Then, take the large square stone and stand it on end with the wider side up.
The second flat stone is next, again ensuring its flatter side faces upwards as the final stone needs to rest on its face. Place the final stone on top to complete the Titterstone Clee Hill Cairn.
Ingelborg
- Location: Southwest of Olikana Tower
The Ingelborg Cairn, southwest of Olikana Tower, is unique as it doesn’t require all stones provided. Begin by fitting the two bottom stones almost interlocking, with the thinner rock on top. Next, take the large stone and set its thicker side upwards when placing it.

Afterward, place a small square rock on top, followed by standing the long, thin stone on end. The final stone is another flat rock; place it carefully to complete the Ingelborg Cairn without toppling it.
East Cape Peak
- Location: East of Seahenge, East Anglia
The East Cape Peak Cairn, east of Seahenge in East Anglia, England, is straightforward. The order of stone placement is flexible, as long as you alternate their bulkier sides to maintain balance. All stones are relatively flat, so you may need to adjust their orientation to achieve the desired balance for the East Cape Peak Cairn.
Kinder Downfall
- Location: South of Odin Mine Hideout, Snotinghamscire
The Kinder Downfall Cairn, south of Odin Mine Hideout in Snotinghamscire, England, is notably difficult, rivaling some of the hardest bosses in challenge. The two largest stones must be positioned on end, one at the bottom and one at the top.
The middle section starts with the flatter stone, followed by stacking the two square stones on top to create a level surface. This leveled middle is crucial for supporting the top stone and completing the Kinder Downfall Cairn.
High Rocks
- Location: Southwest of Crawleah, Suthsexe
For the High Rocks Cairn, southwest of Crawleah in Suthsexe, England, begin with the largest rock as the base, ensuring it’s standing upright rather than lying down. Next, identify the two rocks that appear to be opposites in shape and stack them to create a relatively flat surface.
Once this leveled platform is established, you can easily stack the flat rock, the square rock, and finally the smallest rock on top to complete the High Rocks Cairn.
Heald Tor
- Location: Southwest of Henge Farm, Hamtunscire
Located in one of the more challenging regions of the map, the Heald Tor Cairn, southwest of Henge Farm in Hamtunscire, England, matches the area’s difficulty. Start with the roundest stone at the base, orienting it so the slanted flat surface faces upwards.

Next, balance the large square stone on top of the round base. Then, stack the last two stones appropriately to finalize the Heald Tor Cairn.
Torghatten Rock
- Location: The big island in Hordafylke
The Torghatten Rock Cairn, on the large island in Hordafylke, Norway, is one of the easiest Cairns to complete, offering flexibility in its construction. Most stones are relatively flat, except for one. Focus on maintaining the structure’s balance while placing this less uniform rock to solve the Torghatten Rock Cairn effortlessly.
Litamiotvitr
- Location: Southeast of Utangard Chasm, Asgard
Set in the mythical Asgard, the Litamiotvitr Cairn, southeast of Utangard Chasm, reflects the epic storyline. It is a shorter design, where you should place bulkier rocks at the base and flatter, smaller rocks at the top. Ensure the top two stones are the smallest and placed evenly against each other for a successful Litamiotvitr Cairn.
Atgeirr
- Location: West of Utgard’s Keep, Jotunheim
The Atgeirr Cairn, west of Utgard’s Keep in Jotunheim, Norway, demands a good sense of balance. Begin with the largest rock, placing its largest side at the base. Next, take the small square rock and carefully balance it on top of this large base.
Finally, stack the two flat rocks and then stand the longest rock on its end to complete the challenging Atgeirr Cairn.
Ionhontsiio:ke
- Location: West of Tsoka’we’kowahne, Vinland
Traveling to Vinland brings you to the Ionhontsiio:ke Cairn, west of Tsoka’we’kowahne. Start with the largest rock at the bottom, placing its flatter side upwards despite its incline.
For the subsequent stones, stack them according to size, but position the first stone towards the upper end of the base rock. This method minimizes frustration and effectively completes the Ionhontsiio:ke Cairn in Vinland.
