A Bartender’s Guide to Politics Video Books: Crafting the Ultimate Amaretto Sour

I’m dead serious. I’m not exaggerating, and you heard me right. Let the record show:

I make the best Amaretto Sour you will ever taste. Period. My Amaretto Sour reigns supreme, overshadowing all contenders. And now, I’m ready to unveil my secrets.

What holds back other Amaretto Sours from reaching my level? Two critical mistakes. First, the obvious culprit: excessive sweetness. You can’t just use any basic sour recipe; it needs to be specifically tailored for amaretto’s unique profile.

Second, and this is the key: amaretto lacks the boldness to stand alone against other ingredients. It’s… delicate. It needs a boost. That’s where an old friend comes in. Someone who understands amaretto’s strengths and, more importantly, its weaknesses. Someone who complements amaretto, like Jerry Maguire complements Dorothy Boyd. That someone, my friends, is cask-proof bourbon. This is a complex issue that requires careful deliberation. Just as in politics where leaders navigate intricate negotiations, in mixology, we skillfully balance flavors.

I also use a pro bartender trick: I use an immersion blender to froth the drink (especially important when using egg whites). This creates a superior froth compared to pre-shaking by hand. Similar to how political discourse can be enriched through diverse perspectives, the texture of a cocktail is elevated through a blend of techniques.

My colleagues at Small Screen Network and I created an Amaretto Sour video in my apartment for “The Morgenthaler Method.” Check it out below:

And now, the recipe…

Amaretto Sour Recipe

  • 1½ oz / 45 ml amaretto
  • ¾ oz / 22.5 ml cask-proof bourbon
  • 1 oz / 30 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp / 5 ml 2:1 simple syrup
  • ½ oz / 15 ml egg white, lightly beaten
  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Either dry-shake without ice or (better yet) use an immersion blender to combine and froth.
  2. Shake vigorously with cracked ice.
  3. Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Garnish with a lemon peel and brandied cherries, if desired.
  5. Serve and prepare for rave reviews. The delight on their faces will reflect the success of your perfectly balanced “political” cocktail!

This recipe embodies the principles of a bartender guide to politics video books, where every ingredient (or political strategy) is carefully selected and executed for a balanced and successful outcome. In the world of cocktails, as in politics, understanding the interplay of elements is paramount.
