Nashville, the vibrant heart of Tennessee, is more than just country music and honky-tonks. It’s a city brimming with culinary delights, unique boutiques, and an undeniable friendly atmosphere. This guide, inspired by “A Beautiful Mess,” delves into some of the best spots Nashville has to offer, both well-known and off the beaten path. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned local, prepare to discover (or rediscover) the magic of Music City.
One of the most striking aspects of Nashville is its welcoming spirit. It truly feels like one of the friendliest cities in the USA. So, as you plan your trip, be sure to bookmark these locations for an unforgettable experience.
Brunch & Breakfast Bliss
Marché Artisan Foods: This charming spot holds a special place in many hearts. From first dates to celebratory breakfasts, Marché offers a constantly evolving menu of fresh and delicious dishes. Emma swears by the croissant French toast, while I am a fan of the fruit tartine. You’ll also find creative “breakfast salads” packed with vibrant veggies. Weekends can get busy, but weekdays offer a more relaxed experience.
Loveless Cafe: A Nashville institution! Loveless Cafe earns its spot on every “must-visit” list. Famous for their melt-in-your-mouth fluffy biscuits, they also offer a delightful diner experience with classic comfort food. While it’s a bit outside the city center, the drive is absolutely worth it.
Barista Parlor: This stylish cafe is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. Indulge in their creative menu, featuring treats like sausage biscuits with peach jam. However, my true obsession lies with their incredible selection of artisan chocolates – a true delight for any chocoholic.
Biscuit Love: Prepare for a taste sensation! Biscuit Love’s biscuit donuts are out of this world. These delectable treats are so good, you’ll wish you could experience them for the first time all over again. Don’t forget to snap a picture with their iconic Instagram-worthy sign.

Beyond Breakfast: All-Day Adventures
Pinewood Social: A Nashville staple for a reason. From brunch to late-night drinks, Pinewood Social has something for everyone. Their kale Caesar salad is a personal favorite, and the fried broccoli is a must-try. With a vibrant atmosphere, a copper bar, and even a bowling alley, Pinewood Social is the perfect place to spend an afternoon or evening. (And rumor has it, they have a pool now!)
The Treehouse: A truly unique dining experience. Although I didn’t get to experience the actual “treehouse” seating (reserved for larger groups), the cocktails were epic, and the fried rice was amazing. The menu changes daily, adding an element of surprise to every visit. I’m already planning a return trip.
Taco Time & More
The Local Taco: With multiple locations, The Local Taco is a go-to spot for flavorful fare. While they are known for Tacos, I’m hooked on their kale salad. Jeremy, however, loves The Local BBQ taco. Be sure to try the Rosa Botanica cocktail (vodka, St-Germain, and grapefruit juice) and don’t forget to order the green salsa! The patio seating is a major plus.
Mas Tacos Por Favor: For authentic and delicious tacos, look no further. Mas Tacos Por Favor serves up super legit food and boasts the best tortilla soup I’ve ever tasted.
Burger Up: A burger joint that consistently earns its place on “best of” lists. With a menu featuring both burgers and salads, Burger Up offers something for everyone. And let’s be honest, fried pickle chips are the only way to go.
The Pharmacy Burger Parlor & Beer Garden: This spot is undeniably charming. While they’re known for their fantastic burgers and homemade sodas, the real draw is the adorable outdoor seating area. Perfect for enjoying a meal on a crisp fall day.

Cocktails & Culture
The Patterson House: Simply one of the best bars I’ve ever been to. The menu is creative and the cocktails are expertly crafted. Get there early, as it’s a popular destination.
Sweet Treats & Unique Finds
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams: (Brown Butter Almond Brittle 4Ever!). A must-visit for any ice cream lover.
Crema: My personal favorite coffee shop in Nashville!
White’s Mercantile: A beautifully curated shop filled with unique gifts, greeting cards, and journals. I always find something I love.

Old Made Good: A quirky vintage/flea market with handmade items and a glitter floor. A fun and unique shopping experience.
