Meeting Trelawny in Saint Denis
Your adventure begins in Saint Denis, where you’ll meet up with the ever-eccentric Trelawny. He’s got a plan to swindle a riverboat casino, but first, he insists you need a makeover.
Follow Trelawny to the tailor, where you’ll acquire ‘The Wittemore’, a fine three-piece town suit, completely free of charge.
Next, it’s off to the barber for a haircut and a proper shave. Trelawny can’t have you looking like a vagrant when you’re trying to pass as a high roller!
Now that you’re looking the part, follow Trelawny to a carriage that will take you to the docks. Remember, you’ll have to leave your weapons behind, so keep things civil.
Trelawny informs you that the dealer is in on the scheme, and Strauss will offer signals on how to bet. However, to achieve the Gold Medal, you’ll need to disregard Strauss’s advice. Continue walking with Trelawny until you reach the poker table.
Playing Poker Like a Pro
- GOLD MEDAL: Win the game of Poker without Strauss’s help
The rigged game makes this Gold Medal surprisingly easy. The trick is to ignore Strauss completely – don’t even wait for his cues, and definitely don’t press the / button. Fold on the first hand, as it’s designed to be a losing one.
Most players will leave at this point, leaving you to face Desmond Blythe. For every hand afterward, simply go all-in until Blythe is broke. This aggressive strategy, combined with the dealer’s assistance, ensures a swift victory.
Once he’s out of cash, Blythe will wager his watch, which is locked in a safe upstairs. Accept the bet and follow the pit boss to retrieve the prize. Conveniently, Javier will be posing as a guard and will accompany you and the pit boss.
The pit boss, displaying some unpleasant prejudice, brandishes a gun, justifying any moral qualms you might have about the upcoming events.
Wait for the pit boss to open the safe.
Javier swiftly deals with the other guard, while you prevent the pit boss from interfering.
Press / to disarm him and take his gun, then loot the safe. You’ll automatically activate Dead Eye upon doing so.
It appears the pit boss was armed with two guns. Things are about to get messy.
Finish looting the safe and follow Javier. Remember to holster your weapon. He’ll lead you down two flights of stairs.
Continue following Javier back into the main room, where you’ll find Trelawny embroiled in an argument with Blythe at the bar.
Just as you attempt to diffuse the situation, chaos erupts.
Escape the Riverboat and Survive
- GOLD MEDAL: After your cover is blown, escape the boat in under 35 seconds
- GOLD MEDAL: Get 5 headshots
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items
The 35-second escape time is incredibly tight. Immediately activate Dead Eye and aim for headshots. There should be enough guards in the immediate area to take down at least three with your first barrage.
Leave cover and sprint towards the stairs. Use Dead Eye to shoot the two guards descending the stairs to achieve your five headshots.
Ignore everything else and sprint for the door to the right of the stairs, then turn left.
Follow Javier and Trelawny as they jump off the riverboat into the water.
Another flawless plan by Trelawny! Mission complete!
