A Spark of Hope Destiny 2 Guide: Walkthrough and Tips for New Lights

Destiny 2 can feel overwhelming for new players, even with the reworked New Light questline. The A Spark of Hope quest is an excellent introduction for kinderguardians, offering valuable insights and a powerful Exotic weapon. This guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough on how to complete A Spark of Hope in Destiny 2, ensuring a smooth start to your Guardian journey.

Obtaining A Spark of Hope

The A Spark of Hope quest should automatically appear from Commander Zavala upon reaching the Tower. If you don’t see it, check the Quest Archive located to the left of the Postmaster. Pinpointing it on your map will guide you to its location swiftly.

Steps to Complete A Spark of Hope

This quest involves interacting with key NPCs and completing specific tasks. Follow these steps to successfully complete A Spark of Hope and claim your reward.

Speak to Commander Zavala and Ikora Rey

Your first task is to seek out Commander Zavala, the Titan Vanguard leader. He can be found on a balcony at the far end of the Tower. Look for the stoic, purple Titan overlooking the Traveler. Pinpointing him on the map will help guide the way.

Next, you’ll need to find Ikora Rey, located in a gazebo near the Bazaar. Mark her on the map to easily navigate to her location.

Find Devrim Kay in the EDZ and Clear Lost Sectors

Travel to the EDZ and land at the Trostland landing zone. Devrim Kay is located at the top of the abandoned church, above the ramp. Marking him on the map simplifies the navigation.

Devrim will ask you to clear three Lost Sectors: Terminus East, Widow’s Walk, and Atrium. Lost Sectors are mini-dungeons with enemies and a boss. Defeating the boss and opening the chest counts as clearing the sector. Look for the Lost Sector symbol on the map and in the environment.

  • Atrium: Located in the basement of the destroyed church.
  • Terminus East: Found in an abandoned subway station east of the church.
  • Widow’s Walk: Situated on the west side of the church in a boarded-up area. Enter the door to its right and make another right inside.

Upon clearing all three Lost Sectors, you will receive map fragments. Return to Devrim for decoding, which leads to the Risk/Reward quest on the Cosmodrome.

Complete Risk/Reward in the Cosmodrome

To progress in A Spark of Hope, you must complete the Risk/Reward quest. This mission is available from its own node on the Cosmodrome map. While relatively simple, it includes a tricky jumping puzzle.

Return to Commander Zavala in the Tower

After completing Risk/Reward and obtaining the Riskrunner Exotic SMG, return to Commander Zavala in the Tower to finish A Spark of Hope. He will reward you with an emblem, but the real prize is the Riskrunner itself.

The Real Prize: Riskrunner

Completing A Spark of Hope rewards you with the Riskrunner Exotic SMG. This weapon is incredibly powerful, especially against Arc damage. Its Exotic perk, Arc Conductor, increases its damage output and grants chain lightning when taking Arc damage. This makes Riskrunner a fantastic weapon for clearing groups of enemies and dealing with challenging encounters.

This Destiny 2 guide offers a detailed walkthrough for completing the A Spark of Hope quest. By following these steps, new players can unlock a powerful Exotic weapon and gain valuable experience within the game. Enjoy your adventure, Guardian!
