Rerolling in gacha games like AFK Journey is a common practice for players aiming for the perfect start. However, it’s crucial to understand whether the effort is worthwhile. While server-hopping for rerolling is possible, creating excessive accounts via emulators might lead to account flagging and potential bans, a known issue in games like AFK Arena and Dislyte. Proceed with caution.
The central question is: Is rerolling worth it in AFK Journey? In most idle games, rerolling is often unnecessary due to the importance of character duplicates for progression. AFK Journey is similar, but rerolling can be beneficial if you’re determined to optimize your initial team. Here’s a breakdown:
- Guaranteed S-Level Characters: AFK Journey features a “fixed” pity system for the first two guaranteed S-Level characters on the normal banner. These fixed pulls were consistent throughout the Public Test Realm (PTR) and Beta Voyage phases, and we expect them to remain in the official release. We will update this guide if any changes occur.
Despite these guaranteed pulls, rerolling can still be advantageous for players who want to min-max their early game:
- Early Game Carry Potential: A single copy of a top-tier S-Level hero can significantly ease your progression during the initial weeks, making the early game smoother and more enjoyable.
- Viability at Base Rarity: Certain heroes, particularly support and tank units, can remain effective even at their initial base rarity throughout the game.
- Simplified Ascension System: Compared to other games in the genre, AFK Journey’s ascension system is more streamlined, requiring fewer duplicates to reach a character’s maximum potential. This doesn’t make characters easier to obtain, but the generous pity system and availability of character duplicates in various shops are helpful.
- Tank Hero Deficiency: While the guaranteed pity system provides a strong DPS and Support/Healer, a dedicated tank is missing. Lucius, given freely, quickly transitions into an off-tank/shield bot role, losing his effectiveness as a primary tank.
- Top-Tier S-Level Tanks: For S-Level tanks, Thoran and Granny Dahnie are considered the best, substantially improving early game survivability and progression.
- Bonus S-Level Heroes Before Pity: You might randomly obtain S-Level heroes before reaching the second pity mark. Importantly, this doesn’t reset the pity counter. However, after the second guaranteed S-Level hero, the pity system reverts to normal, resetting upon obtaining any S-Level hero.
- Quick Reroll Process: Rerolling only takes approximately 10 minutes, making it a relatively fast process.
However, rerolling isn’t without its drawbacks.
Rerolling directly on your phone is limited to server-hopping (potentially placing you on an older server, behind other players) or email-hopping. While a PC client with a Guest account exists, creating new Guest accounts requires uninstalling and completely removing the game, making it cumbersome. Emulators simplify and accelerate the rerolling process significantly, which we’ll detail further below.
Reroll Methods in AFK Journey
Before starting, you need to decide on your reroll platform: phone, PC, or emulator. Here’s a comparison of each method.
Phone / PC Client Reroll
AFK Journey offers a Guest System on Android/iOS, but it’s unclear if clearing the cache on Android devices effectively deletes the Guest Account. On the PC client, while Guest accounts exist, removing them without a full uninstall is difficult.
This leaves two primary options: email-hopping and server-hopping, which can also be combined.

Email-hopping: This method involves preparing multiple Google accounts. Log in with one, complete the reroll process on the latest server, and if unsatisfied, switch to another email and repeat.

Salt Method: We haven’t confirmed if the “Salt Method” works in AFK Journey as testing was not possible during the PTR.

Server-hopping: This is a variation of email-hopping. Instead of logging out after a reroll attempt on the latest server, you switch to an older server and repeat the process.

Server Age Disadvantage: The more attempts it takes to achieve your desired reroll, the further behind you’ll be compared to players on the newest server. This can impact performance in Dream Realm (ranking-based boss content) and PvP.
Emulator Reroll: The Recommended Method
Emulator rerolling is the most efficient method for AFK Journey.
With a capable PC, you can run multiple emulator instances simultaneously. The reroll process takes roughly 10 minutes, allowing for synchronized actions across instances to streamline the process.
BlueStacks is highly recommended for AFK Journey rerolling due to its excellent game compatibility and ease of multi-instance management, facilitating a strong start.
Here’s a step-by-step emulator reroll guide using BlueStacks:
- Install BlueStacks: Download BlueStacks from the official website and open the Multi-Instance Manager.
- Create Master Instance: In the Multi-Instance Manager, create a new instance and name it “AFK Journey Master Instance.”
- Install AFK Journey: Install AFK Journey within the Master Instance. You can use the Play Store or download an APK from a trusted source like APKCombo and drag it into the instance. Do not launch the game after installation.
- Clone Instances: Clone the “Master Instance” as many times as your PC can handle comfortably (e.g., 4 clones if you can run 4 instances smoothly).
- Launch Cloned Instances: Open each cloned instance, let them download initial data, log in as a guest, and begin the reroll process (explained below).
- Synchronize Instances: Utilize BlueStacks’ “Synchronize” feature to mirror your mouse actions across all instances.
- Reroll and Repeat: If the reroll results are unsatisfactory, clear the cache in each instance and retry. If clearing the cache is ineffective, delete the instances and create new clones.
- Bind Account: Once you achieve your desired reroll, bind your account to prevent data loss.

And here’s a detailed instruction for the emulator reroll:
1. Install BlueStacks and Open Multi-Instance Manager.

2. Create a New Instance in Multi-Instance Window.
Click the blue “Instance” button in the bottom left of the Multi-Instance window.

- Select “Fresh Instance” in the pop-up window.
- Choose “Pie-64” in the second step.
- For single-instance rerolling, use optimal settings (e.g., 4 cores, 4GB RAM). For multi-instance rerolling, choose 2 cores and 2GB RAM to run more instances simultaneously.
- Rename the newly created instance to “AFK Journey Master.”
3. Launch the “AFK Journey Master” Instance.
4. Install AFK Journey.
Open the Play Store within the instance, log in, and install AFK Journey. Alternatively, use an APK file if the game isn’t available in your region.
5. Close the “Master Instance.”
Crucially, close the game before launching it for the first time. Opening the game creates a user ID cookie, preventing multi-instance rerolling.
6. Clone the “Master Instance.”
Return to the Multi-Instance Manager and clone the “Master Instance” as many times as needed.

Step 1. Launch the game. Choose minimum download settings (approx. 200MB) and skip the intro animation by tapping the screen for 2 seconds. Select and customize your main character (male or female).
Note: Character names are unique per server. Use placeholder names during rerolling and change to your desired name later.
