Finding Classic Alchemy Trainers
To begin or advance your Alchemy skill, you’ll need to find an Alchemy trainer. Guards in any major city can point you to the nearest trainer, marked on your map with a red flag. Below are lists of trainers by faction:

Leveling Your Alchemy Skill: 1-300
Follow these steps to efficiently level your Alchemy from 1 to 300.
Levels 1-60: Minor Healing Potions
- Approximate Materials: 65x Peacebloom, 65x Sliverleaf, 65x Empty Vial
- Recipe: Minor Healing Potion
Craft approximately 65 Minor Healing Potions. These are useful later, so save them! This recipe is your bread and butter to start your alchemy journey. It utilizes readily available starting herbs.
Journeyman Alchemy (Skill 75 Required)
To progress beyond Alchemy skill level 75, you must train Journeyman Alchemy. This requires character level 10 and a visit to an Expert Alchemist. Not all trainers offer this level, so seek out the specific NPCs listed below:

Levels 60-140: Healing Potions

Craft around 35 Healing Potions. This will take you well into the Journeyman levels. These potions are a step up from Minor Healing Potions and still utilize relatively common herbs.
Expert Alchemy (Skill 150 Required)
To continue past Alchemy skill 150, you need to learn Expert Alchemy. This requires character level 20 and training from an Artisan Alchemist.
- Horde: Doctor Herbert Halsey in Undercity.
- Alliance: Ainethil in Darnassus.
Before leaving Darnassus or Undercity, buy the Recipe: Superior Mana Potion!
- Recipe: Recipe: Superior Mana Potion
- Vendors: Ulthir (Darnassus), Algernon (Undercity)
Recipe: Superior Mana Potion is a limited supply item, so purchase it when available to save time later at skill level 265. Check back if it’s out of stock or buy from the Auction House.
Levels 140-155: Lesser Mana Potions
- Approximate Materials: 20x Mageroyal, 20x Stranglekelp, 20x Empty Vial
- Recipe: Lesser Mana Potion
Craft approximately 20 Lesser Mana Potions. This recipe will turn yellow towards the end, requiring a few extra crafts potentially.
Alternative Recipes:
- Fire Oil: If Stranglekelp is scarce or Firefin Snapper is cheap, consider making Fire Oil.
- Healing Potion: Continue making Healing Potions if materials are readily available.
Levels 155-185: Greater Healing Potions
- Approximate Materials: 35x Liferoot, 35x Kingsblood, 35x Leaded Vial

Craft around 30 Elixir of Agility.
Alternative Recipes:
- Mana Potion or Lesser Invisibility Potion: If Goldthorn is scarce, craft Mana Potions or Lesser Invisibility Potions up to skill level 195.

Artisan Alchemy (Skill 225 Required)
To progress beyond Alchemy skill 225, you must learn Artisan Alchemy. This requires character level 35 and a Master Alchemist.
