Leveling Classic Alchemy
1 – 60
65 x Minor Healing Potion – 65 Peacebloom, 65 Sliverleaf, 65 Empty Vial
Hold onto these Minor Healing Potions as you’ll need them later in your Alchemy journey.
Learn Journeyman Alchemy
To progress your Alchemy skill beyond 75, you’ll need to learn Journeyman Alchemy. This requires character level 10 and can be learned from Expert Alchemists. Note that not all Alchemy trainers teach this skill.

- 110 – 140 35 x Healing Potion – 35 Bruiseweed, 35 Briarthorn, 35 Leaded Vial
Expert Alchemy
To continue past Alchemy skill level 150, you must learn Expert Alchemy. This requires character level 20, and you’ll need to seek out an Artisan Alchemist.
Horde players can find Doctor Herbert Halsey in Undercity to learn Expert Alchemy. Alliance players should visit Ainethil in Darnassus.
Recipe to buy
Before leaving Darnassus or Undercity, purchase the Recipe: Superior Mana Potion! This recipe will be crucial later at skill level 265, so buying it now will save you time.
Algernon in Undercity sell this recipe. It’s a limited supply item, so if it’s out of stock, check back periodically or purchase it from the Auction House.
140 – 155
20 x Lesser Mana Potion – 20 Mageroyal, 20 Stranglekelp, 20 Empty Vial
This recipe will turn yellow for the last 10 skill points, so you may need to craft a few extra Lesser Mana Potions.
Consider making Healing Potion.
155 – 185
35 x Greater Healing Potion – 35 Liferoot, 35 Kingsblood, 35 Leaded Vial
If you crafted Fire Oil earlier, you can now use it to create Elixir of Firepower.
185 – 210
30 x Elixir of Agility – 30 Stranglekelp, 30 Goldthorn, 30 Leaded Vial
If you’re low on Goldthorn, craft Mana Potion or Lesser Invisibility Potion until around skill level 195.
If you completely lack Goldthorn, you can make Nature Protection Potion between skill levels 190-215.
Recipe: Nature Protection Potion is sold by these vendors. Note that it’s a limited supply item, so you might need to wait for it to respawn if someone else has recently purchased it.
Artisan Alchemy
To advance your Alchemy skill past 225, you must learn Artisan Alchemy. This requires character level 35, and you’ll need to find a Master Alchemist.
Horde players can learn Artisan Alchemy from Rogvar in Stonard, Swamp of Sorrows.
Alliance players should seek out Kylanna Windwhisper in Feathermoon Stronghold, Feralas.
