A.O.T. 2 Friendship Guide: Maximize Your Bonds and Skills

Friendship is key in Attack on Titan 2, not just for the feels, but also for character growth and unlocking new playable characters in Another Mode. This comprehensive A.o.t 2 Friendship Guide will provide the knowledge you need to become the most popular soldier in the Survey Corps. This guide assumes you’ve completed the main story. Making Friends in A.O.T. 2

There are several ways to deepen your bonds with characters in A.O.T. 2. Remember, you can pause the game and navigate to the “People” section to quickly travel to any character on the map.

Conversations: When a character has a heart icon above their head, talk to them. You’ll face a multiple-choice question testing your knowledge of the character. If you’re unsure, save before speaking and reload if you answer incorrectly.

Missions: Team up with characters in story missions or invite them on Scout Missions (press Y/Triangle). Playing as a character in Another Mode also boosts friendship. Levels with many characters, like the first and last story missions, are great for leveling multiple friendships quickly.
Gift Giving: Giving gifts to characters will increase their friendship towards your character.

Mastering the Art of Gift Giving

Gift-giving is crucial for forging friendships. Nine shops across the map sell various gifts, marked by a present icon. Here’s where to find them:

Regiment Store: Located in the Barracks plaza (turn left upon entering).
Large Store: The first door on the right when entering Trost District (teleport to Merchant Association Boss).
Trost Stand: Located at the far end of Trost District from the entrance.
Back Alley Shop: Accessible via a staircase next to the Large Store (teleport to Daz).
Store: On the left side of Stohess District (teleport to Annie).
Stohess Stand 1: Directly ahead of the entrance to Stohess District.
Stohess Stand 2: At the opposite end of Stohess from the entrance.
Utgard Castle: The only structure there (teleport to Ymir).
Farming Village Shop: Unlock by reaching Friendship Level 5 with Sasha and completing her character mission.

Character Saves: Rescuing Your Comrades

To unlock the full potential of friendships, you need to save characters who die in the story. This feature is unlocked after completing story mode. During story missions, a yellow flare indicates a Character Save opportunity. These are essentially side missions.

Here’s a list of possible character saves and how to achieve them:

Saving Mina and Thomas: Mission: First Battle. The yellow flare appears after completing the side missions.
Saving Ian and Mitabi: Mission: Primal Roar. The yellow flare appears while Eren is moving the giant boulder.
Saving Marco: Mission: Primal Roar. When Levi’s squad arrives, Marco’s yellow flare will appear.
Saving the Levi Squad: Mission: Choices and Consequences. After completing the first side mission, the yellow flare to save the Levi Squad appears, requiring you to defeat the Female Titan.
Saving Miche: Mission: Beast Titan. After completing all side missions, Miche’s yellow flare appears near the end.
Saving Gelgar and Nanaba: Mission: Utgard Castle. During the base-building phase, Nanaba and Gelgar’s flares appear; escort them to horses.
Saving Hannes: Mission: Charge. Complete all side missions; his flare will appear at the end.
