This Classic WoW Tailoring leveling guide will walk you through the quickest and simplest method to boost your Tailoring skill from 1 to 300.
Tailoring relies on cloth as its primary material. The great thing about Tailoring is that you don’t need a gathering profession to acquire cloth, making it compatible with any gathering profession. A popular combination is Enchanting. You can craft various cloth items, disenchant them, and utilize the resulting dust and essences to level up your Enchanting. If you’re interested in leveling Enchanting, check out my Classic WoW Enchanting leveling guide.
If you’re still in the process of leveling your character or starting a new alt, I highly recommend Zygor’s 1-60 Leveling Guide. It’s a fantastic resource for reaching level 60 much faster.

Finding Classic Tailoring Trainers
You can learn Classic Tailoring from any of the NPCs listed below. However, you must reach level 5 before you can begin your training.
Simply click on the links provided to see the exact location of each trainer. Alternatively, you can ask any city guard for directions to the Tailoring trainer, and they will mark it on your map with a red flag.

Classic Tailoring Leveling Guide

- 40 – 70: Craft approximately 40-70x Linen Belt – Requires 1 Bolt of Linen Cloth and 1 Coarse Thread per belt.
Journeyman Tailoring
To progress beyond Tailoring level 75, you need to learn Journeyman Tailoring (requires character level 10). Not all Tailoring trainers offer this advanced skill; you’ll need to find an Expert Tailor.
You can learn Journeyman Tailoring from these NPCs:
Horde Trainers:

Alliance Trainers:
(List of Alliance Journeyman trainers will be inserted here, maintaining original links if provided and updating if necessary for English audience clarity.)
Leveling Tailoring: 75 – 125
- 100 – 110: Craft approximately 13x Simple Kilt – Requires 4 Bolt of Linen Cloth and 1 Fine Thread per kilt.
Expert Tailoring
To continue past Tailoring level 150, you’ll need to learn Expert Tailoring (requires character level 20). This skill is taught by Artisan Tailors, not every trainer.
Horde players can find Josef Gregorian in Undercity to learn Expert Tailoring, and Alliance players can visit Georgio Bolero in Stormwind City.
Leveling Tailoring: 125 – 220
-
145 – 160: Craft approximately 18x Azure Silk Hood – Requires 2 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 2 Blue Dye, and 1 Fine Thread per hood.
-
170 – 175: Craft approximately 5x Formal White Shirt – Requires 3 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 2 Bleach, and 1 Fine Thread per shirt.
-
185 – 205: Craft approximately 20x Crimson Silk Vest – Requires 4 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 2 Fine Thread, and 2 Red Dye per vest.
-
215 – 220: Craft approximately 5x Orange Mageweave Shirt – Requires 1 Bolt of Mageweave, 1 Orange Dye, and 1 Heavy Silken Thread per shirt.
Artisan Tailoring
To progress beyond Tailoring level 225, you must learn Artisan Tailoring (requires character level 35). You’ll need to seek out a Master Tailor, as not all trainers teach this level.
Horde players can find Daryl Stack in Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad Foothills. He is located in the building just east of the Inn.
Alliance players can learn Artisan Tailoring from Timothy Worthington in Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh. He’s on the top floor of the first small building on the left after you disembark from the boat.
Leveling Tailoring: 220 – 260
- 230 – 250: Craft approximately 23x Black Mageweave Headband – Requires 3 Bolt of Mageweave and 2 Heavy Silken Thread per headband.
Leveling Tailoring: 260 – 280
Craft approximately 25x Runecloth Belt – Requires 3 Bolt of Runecloth and 1 Rune Thread per belt.
Consider crafting Runecloth Bag instead of Runecloth Belts if you plan to sell them on the Auction House. Bags are more costly to craft but can potentially recoup more gold. If you prefer not to sell a large quantity of bags, stick to crafting belts.
The recipe for Runecloth Bag can be purchased at the 280-290 level range, detailed below.
Leveling Tailoring: 280 – 290
Craft approximately 18x Runecloth Bag – Requires 5 Bolt of Runecloth, 2 Rugged Leather, and 1 Rune Thread per bag.
The Pattern: Runecloth Bag is sold by Qia in Everlook, Winterspring. She is inside the bank building, in the left corner as you enter.
This recipe has a limited supply. If it’s been purchased recently, you’ll need to wait for it to respawn. The restock time appears to be random, ranging from 5 to 90 minutes. If many players are camping the NPC, it’s often more efficient to purchase the pattern from the Auction House.
Leveling Tailoring: 290 – 300
Craft approximately 18x Runecloth Gloves – Requires 4 Bolt of Runecloth, 4 Rugged Leather, and 1 Rune Thread per pair of gloves.
The recipe will turn yellow at skill level 290, so gather enough materials for approximately 18 crafts.
The Pattern: Runecloth Gloves is also sold by Qia in Winterspring and is also a limited supply item.
I hope you found this Classic WoW Tailoring leveling guide helpful. Congratulations on reaching Tailoring skill level 300!
