Classic Tailoring Leveling Guide: Fast & Easy 1-300 in WoW

Leveling Tailoring in Classic World of Warcraft is a straightforward process, primarily utilizing cloth materials. A significant advantage of Tailoring is that it doesn’t require a gathering profession, making it compatible with any combination. Many players choose to pair Tailoring with Enchanting. This synergy allows you to craft various cloth items, disenchant them, and then use the resulting dust and essences to level Enchanting. If you’re interested in leveling Enchanting as well, be sure to check out our Classic WoW Enchanting leveling guide.

If you’re still in the process of leveling your character or starting a new alt, consider using Zygor’s 1-60 Leveling Guide. It’s a popular tool that can significantly accelerate your journey to level 60.

Finding Classic Tailoring Trainers

You can begin your Tailoring journey by learning Apprentice Tailoring from any of the trainers listed below. Keep in mind that you must reach level 5 before you can learn any profession.

To easily locate a Tailoring trainer in any city, simply ask a guard for directions. The trainer’s location will be conveniently marked with a red flag on your map.

Horde Tailoring Trainers:

Classic Tailoring Leveling: Step-by-Step

Apprentice Tailoring (Skill Level 1 – 75)

  • 1 – 75:
    • 40 – 70 x Linen Belt (40 Bolt of Linen Cloth, 40 Coarse Thread)

Journeyman Tailoring (Requires Skill Level 75, Character Level 10)

To advance beyond skill level 75, you need to learn Journeyman Tailoring. This requires finding an Expert Tailor, as not all Tailoring trainers offer this level of training.

You can learn Journeyman Tailoring from the following NPCs:

Horde Journeyman Tailoring Trainers:

  • Horde Journeyman Trainers List (List of Horde Journeyman trainers would be here in a complete guide)

Alliance Journeyman Tailoring Trainers:

  • Alliance Journeyman Trainers List (List of Alliance Journeyman trainers would be here in a complete guide)

Journeyman Tailoring (Skill Level 75 – 150)

  • 75 – 125:
    • 100 – 110 x Simple Kilt (52 Bolt of Linen Cloth, 13 Fine Thread)

Expert Tailoring (Requires Skill Level 150, Character Level 20)

To progress past skill level 150, you must learn Expert Tailoring. Artisan Tailors are required to teach this skill.

Horde players can find Josef Gregorian in Undercity to learn Expert Tailoring. Alliance players should seek out Georgio Bolero in Stormwind City.

Expert Tailoring (Skill Level 150 – 225)

  • 125 – 220:

    • 145 – 160 x Azure Silk Hood (36 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 36 Blue Dye, 18 Fine Thread)

    • 170 – 175 x Formal White Shirt (15 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 10 Bleach, 5 Fine Thread)

    • 185 – 205 x Crimson Silk Vest (80 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 40 Fine Thread, 40 Red Dye)

    • 215 – 220 x Orange Mageweave Shirt (5 Bolt of Mageweave, 5 Orange Dye, 5 Heavy Silken Thread)

Artisan Tailoring (Requires Skill Level 225, Character Level 35)

To continue beyond skill level 225, you will need to learn Artisan Tailoring. Master Tailors are required for this level of training.

Horde players can find Daryl Stack in Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad Foothills. He is located in the building directly east of the Inn. Alliance players can learn from Timothy Worthington in Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh. He is on the top floor of the first small building on the left after disembarking from the boat.

Artisan Tailoring (Skill Level 225 – 300)

  • 220 – 260:

    • 230 – 250 x Black Mageweave Headband (69 Bolt of Mageweave, 46 Heavy Silken Thread)
  • 260 – 280:

    • 25 x Runecloth Belt (75 Bolt of Runecloth, 25 Rune Thread)

Consider crafting Runecloth Bags instead of Runecloth Belts if you plan to sell your crafted items at the Auction House. Bags are generally more profitable, although they require more materials. If selling isn’t your priority, sticking with belts is a simpler approach.

  • 280 – 290:

    • 18 x Runecloth Bag (90 Bolt of Runecloth, 36 Rugged Leather, 18 Rune Thread)

The Pattern: Runecloth Bag recipe is sold by Qia in Everlook, Winterspring. She is inside the bank building, in the left corner as you enter.

This recipe has a limited supply, meaning it may not always be available. If it’s sold out, you’ll need to wait for it to respawn, which can take anywhere from 5 to 90 minutes. If there are many players waiting, it’s often more efficient to purchase the recipe from the Auction House.

  • 290 – 300:

    • 18 x Runecloth Gloves (72 Bolt of Runecloth, 72 Rugged Leather, 18 Rune Thread)

The Runecloth Gloves recipe will turn yellow at skill level 290, but crafting them until 300 is still the most efficient path.

The Pattern: Runecloth Gloves recipe is also sold by Qia in Winterspring and is also a limited supply item.

Congratulations on reaching Tailoring skill level 300 in Classic WoW! We hope this guide has been helpful in your crafting journey.
