Classic WoW Tailoring Leveling Guide: Fast & Efficient 1-300

This comprehensive guide will walk you through the quickest and most efficient method to level your Tailoring skill from 1 to 300 in Classic World of Warcraft. Tailoring is a valuable profession that allows you to craft cloth armor, bags, and various other useful items. Unlike some professions, Tailoring doesn’t require a gathering profession, making it a great pairing with any skill, especially Enchanting. Many players choose to combine Tailoring with Enchanting to disenchant crafted cloth items and utilize the materials to level Enchanting. If you’re interested in leveling Enchanting alongside Tailoring, be sure to check out our Classic WoW Enchanting leveling guide.

If you’re still on your journey to level 60 or starting a new character, consider using a leveling guide to speed up the process. Zygor’s 1-60 Leveling Guide is a popular choice to help you reach level 60 faster.

Finding Classic Tailoring Trainers

To begin your Tailoring journey, you’ll need to find a Tailoring trainer. You can learn Apprentice Tailoring once you reach level 5. Trainers are located in most major cities. If you’re having trouble finding one, simply ask a guard in any city, and they will mark the Tailoring trainer’s location on your map with a red flag.

Classic Tailoring Leveling: Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps to efficiently level your Tailoring skill from 1 to 300.

Apprentice Tailoring (1 – 75)

  • 1 – 40: Craft Linen Belt
    • Materials: 40 x Bolt of Linen Cloth, 40 x Coarse Thread
    • Craft approximately 40-70: Craft Linen Belts until you reach skill level 75. You might need to craft slightly more or less depending on skill-ups. Linen Cloth is commonly dropped by low-level humanoid enemies in starting zones, making it easily farmable.

Journeyman Tailoring (75 – 150)

To progress beyond skill level 75, you need to learn Journeyman Tailoring. This requires your character to be level 10. Not all Tailoring trainers teach Journeyman Tailoring; you need to find an Expert Tailor.

    • Materials: 80 x Bolt of Wool Cloth, 2 x Gray Dye, 2 x Fine Thread
    • Craft approximately 40: Continue crafting Gray Woolen Shirts to maximize wool cloth usage before moving to silk.

To continue past skill level 150, you must learn Expert Tailoring. This requires character level 20. Seek out an Artisan Tailor to learn this skill.

To progress beyond skill level 225, you need to learn Artisan Tailoring, which requires character level 35. You will need to find a Master Tailor.

Artisan Tailoring Trainers:

  • Horde: Daryl Stack in Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad Foothills (building east of the Inn)

  • 280 – 290: Craft Runecloth Bag

    • Materials: 90 x Bolt of Runecloth, 36 x Rugged Leather, 18 x Rune Thread
    • Craft approximately 18: To craft Runecloth Bags, you need to purchase the Pattern: Runecloth Bag. This pattern is sold by Qia in Everlook, Winterspring. Qia is located inside the bank building, in the left corner upon entering.

Important Note: The Runecloth Bag pattern is a limited supply item. If it’s sold out, you’ll need to wait for it to respawn (approximately 5-90 minutes). Alternatively, check the Auction House for players selling the pattern.

  • 290 – 300: Craft Runecloth Gloves

    • Materials: 72 x Bolt of Runecloth, 72 x Rugged Leather, 18 x Rune Thread
    • Craft approximately 18: The Pattern: Runecloth Gloves is also sold by Qia in Winterspring and is also a limited supply recipe. Craft Runecloth Gloves until you reach 300. The recipe will turn yellow at skill level 290, so gather enough materials to ensure you reach 300.

Congratulations on reaching 300 Tailoring in Classic WoW! You are now a Master Tailor, capable of crafting high-level cloth armor and bags. Enjoy the benefits of your newly acquired profession!
