Wendy in Don’t Starve Together relies heavily on her spectral twin, Abigail. While Abigail is powerful on her own, Wendy has access to special potions that can drastically enhance Abigail’s abilities. This guide will cover each of Wendy’s unique crafting recipes and how to use them effectively to dominate the Constant.
In Don’t Starve Together, you’ll find graves, often in the dark green ‘forest’ biomes. These graves have a chance to spawn a baby ghost called a ‘Pipspook.’ When you interact with a Pipspook, a tracking mini-game begins, where the ghost guides you to its toys.
As you get closer to the toys, the Pipspook emits radiating circles that grow larger as you approach. If you struggle to find the toy, move out of the circle’s area for another direction hint. Rotating the camera can also help locate the toys behind trees and rocks. Upon finding a toy, it becomes visible, and the Pipspook drops a Mourning Glory, Wendy’s unique crafting ingredient. The Pipspook will then lead you to more toys. Repeat the process to find between 3-5 toys in total. Each toy found awards you one Mourning Glory, and after finding the last one, the Pipspook drops 3-4 Mourning Glories before disappearing.
Once you’ve collected your Mourning Glories (along with the other necessary ingredients), you’re ready to craft Abigail’s potions. Remember that all potions last for 1 day unless otherwise specified, and only ONE can be active at a time. Using a new potion will overwrite any currently active one. Let’s examine each potion:
Revenant Restorative: This potion triples Abigail’s natural health regeneration, increasing it from 1 to 3 health per second. It significantly improves her survivability in situations where she already excels, such as against frogs and hounds. With the increased regeneration, Abigail can practically become immortal against these enemies, given her already sizable health pool. It also speeds up her recovery from normally damaging situations, making her more effective at tanking tentacles.
Spectral Cure-all: This potent healing potion is more expensive, requiring 3x the Mourning Glories compared to the Revenant Restorative, and it lasts for only 30 seconds. However, it provides an incredible 20 health per second, totaling 600 health restored. This is essentially a full heal for Abigail, even with maximum health, making it well worth the cost. It can save Abigail during boss fights or other dangerous events where she might otherwise perish. If you plan to use Abigail in these situations, stocking up on Spectral Cure-alls is essential.
Unyielding Draught: This is the cheapest potion available. It doubles the duration of Abigail’s immunity shield, granting her one full second of immunity after taking a hit. The Unyielding Draught is only useful when fighting groups of mobs, and even then, the Revenant Restorative might be a better choice, as it allows her to engage more frequently. It could be beneficial to use this potion during a fight and then switch to the Restorative afterward.
Distilled Vengeance: This potion shares the effect of the Unyielding Draught, doubling the duration of Abigail’s immunity shield. Additionally, it deals 20 damage to enemies attacking Abigail during that shield. Although seemingly useful, the Nightshade Nostrum is generally a better option, unless you’re already fighting at night or need the extra protection and damage for AoE combat.
Nightshade Nostrum: This potion makes Abigail deal 40 damage at all times, instead of only at night. This is extremely beneficial whenever Abigail is attacking, and it’s not already nighttime. At its best, it nearly quadruples Abigail’s damage output, and it almost doubles her damage during dusk. Use this to boost Abigail’s damage for faster farming, to get extra damage in during boss fights, or simply to obliterate butterflies, despite their measly 1 health.
Vigor Mortis: This is the most unique potion. For a relatively low cost, Abigail’s movement speed is increased by 75%. This is an excellent quality-of-life improvement, as it prevents Abigail from lagging behind if you have a movement speed buff (such as from a Walking Cane or roads). This ensures she’s always ready to protect you from unexpected ambushes. It allows Abigail to move between mobs faster during butterfly farms or hound waves, improving kill speed. Haunting the potion gives players a 75% movement speed boost for 3 seconds, which can be useful for quickly traversing certain areas.
By understanding the effects and uses of each potion, you can maximize Abigail’s effectiveness and make Wendy a formidable character in Don’t Starve Together. Experiment with different combinations to find what works best for your play style and the challenges you face in the Constant.
