Classic WoW Engineering Leveling Guide: Your Path to 300

Embarking on a journey to master Engineering in Classic World of Warcraft (WoW) is a rewarding endeavor. This comprehensive Engineering Guide Classic is designed to provide you with the fastest and most efficient route to level your Engineering skill from 1 to 300. Whether you’re a budding inventor or a seasoned crafter, this guide will navigate you through each step, ensuring you become a proficient engineer in the world of Classic WoW.

For those looking to maximize efficiency and gold savings, combining Engineering with Mining is highly recommended. Our Classic Mining leveling guide 1-300 offers a complementary path to gather your own materials. However, if Mining isn’t your chosen profession, fear not, as you can acquire all necessary materials from the Auction House.

If you are still on your leveling journey to reach level 60, consider utilizing resources like Zygor’s 1-60 Leveling Guide to expedite your progress and get you ready for the crafting world.

Approximate Materials Required for Classic Engineering:

To prepare for your Engineering journey, it’s beneficial to gather the approximate materials beforehand. For players who are also leveling Mining, our farming guides can assist in gathering the necessary ores:

Finding Your Engineering Trainer in Classic WoW

To begin your training, you will need to locate an Engineering trainer. Trainers are available in major cities for both Horde and Alliance factions. You can start learning Engineering once you reach level 5. To easily find a trainer, simply ask any guard in a city for directions, and they will mark the Engineering trainer’s location on your map.

For efficient leveling, especially up to skill level 200, it is recommended to start your training in Orgrimmar (Horde) or Ironforge (Alliance). These cities host trainers who can teach you up to Expert Engineering, allowing you to minimize travel during the initial stages of your training. Trainers in other cities may only teach Journeyman level recipes, eventually requiring you to travel to Orgrimmar or Ironforge anyway.

Horde Engineering Trainers: (List of Horde trainers – consider linking to a resource like Wowhead for trainer locations for better user experience, but as per instruction, avoid external links in content itself)

Alliance Engineering Trainers: (List of Alliance trainers – same consideration as above for linking to a resource)

Leveling Your Classic Engineering Skill: 1-300

Before you start crafting, make sure you purchase a Blacksmith Hammer. This essential tool can be bought from Blacksmithing or Engineering supply vendors, typically located near your trainer, or from any general goods vendor.

Apprentice Engineering (Skill Level 1 – 75)

Gnome Racial Bonus: Gnome characters benefit from a +15 Engineering skill bonus thanks to their Engineering Specialization. This racial trait allows recipes to remain orange for 15 additional skill points, potentially saving you gold by crafting lower-level recipes for longer.

  • 1 – 30: 30 x Handful of Copper Bolts – 30 Copper Bar. You will need these later, so keep them.
  • 30 – 50: Continue crafting Handful of Copper Bolts if still beneficial, or start on Rough Copper Bombs.
  • 50 – 75: 30 x Rough Copper Bomb – 30 Copper Bar, 30 Handful of Copper Bolts, 60 Rough Blasting Powder, 30 Linen Cloth.

Journeyman Engineering (Skill Level 75 – 150)

To progress beyond skill level 75, you must train Journeyman Engineering. This level of training is not available from all Engineering trainers; you need to seek out an Expert Engineer (requires character level 10).

Journeyman Engineering can be learned from these NPCs:

Horde Journeyman Trainers: (List of Horde trainers)

Alliance Journeyman Trainers: (List of Alliance trainers)

  • 75 – 90: 60 x Coarse Blasting Powder – 60 Coarse Stone. Keep these for later recipes.
  • 90 – 100: Continue making Coarse Blasting Powder or switch to crafting Handful of Copper Bolts if it’s still providing skill points.
  • 100 – 105: 5 x Silver Contact – 5 Silver Bar. Consider this if Silver Bar is reasonably priced.
  • 105 – 125: 25 x Bronze Tube – 50 Bronze Bar, 25 Weak Flux. Weak Flux is sold by Engineering Supply vendors.
  • 125 – 135: Continue making Bronze Tubes or consider crafting other Journeyman level recipes that are cost-effective.

Expert Engineering (Skill Level 150 – 225)

To advance past skill level 150, you’ll need Expert Engineering, taught by Artisan Engineers (requires character level 20).

Expert Engineering trainers are: Roxxik in Orgrimmar and Springspindle Fizzlegear in Ironforge.

  • 150 – 160: 15 x Bronze Framework – 30 Bronze Bar, 15 Medium Leather, 15 Wool Cloth. Hold onto these as they are used in later recipes.
  • 160 – 175: Continue with Bronze Framework or explore other recipes around this skill level range for optimal material usage.
  • 175 – 195: 60 x Solid Blasting Powder – 120 Solid Stone. Save these, they will be needed later.
  • 195 – 200: 7 x Mithril Tube – 21 Mithril Bar. Stop crafting these once you hit 200 skill, but keep 6 tubes if you plan to specialize in Gnomish Engineering at skill level 200.

Artisan Engineering (Skill Level 225 – 300)

To reach the pinnacle of Engineering skill, you must learn Artisan Engineering, taught by Master Engineers. Artisan Engineering training becomes available at character level 35.

You can find the Artisan Engineering trainer Buzzek Bracketswing in Gadgetzan, Tanaris. He is located just outside the Inn, near the mailbox.

Engineering Specializations: At skill level 200, Engineers can choose between Gnomish or Goblin Engineering specializations. Certain crafted items are exclusive to each specialization, while others can be used by any Engineer. Most specialization-specific crafted recipes can be used by engineers of either specialization.

For detailed information on choosing a specialization, refer to our Guide to Engineering Specializations.

  • 200 – 215: Consider crafting items like Goblin Jumper Cables or target dummies to reach 215, depending on material costs and availability of recipes.
  • 215 – 235: 40 x Mithril Casing – 120 Mithril Bar. Save these.
  • 235 – 250: Continue making Mithril Casing, or explore alternative recipes to optimize material usage and skill point gains.
  • 250 – 260: 30 x Dense Blasting Powder – 60 Dense Stone. You might need to craft more than 30 to reach 260.
  • 260 – 285: Continue with Dense Blasting Powder or consider crafting other recipes like Thorium Widget, depending on material costs.
  • 285 – 300: 20 x Thorium Tube – 120 Thorium Bar. The Schematic: Thorium Tube is sold by Xizzer Fizzbolt in Everlook, Winterspring.

Congratulations on reaching Engineering skill level 300! We hope this classic engineering guide has been helpful in your crafting journey. Enjoy the incredible gadgets and devices that await you as a Master Engineer in Classic WoW!
