Maximize Your Score: The Ultimate Fisher FFXIV Guide for Ocean Fishing

To truly excel as a Fisher in Final Fantasy XIV’s Ocean Fishing, strategic preparation is key. Start by consuming Yakow Moussaka HQ for a significant GP boost, ensuring you begin voyages with 950+ GP. This enhanced GP pool is crucial for executing advanced fishing techniques right from the start.

A vital tool for any serious Fisher is Lulu’s Ocean Fishing Tracker. This real-time tracker provides essential information about bait and Fishing Objectives for each voyage. Understanding Location, Bait, and Weather conditions, as highlighted by the tracker, is paramount to targeting high-value fish and maximizing bonus points. Utilize the high-value fish filter to pinpoint the exact bait needed to catch the most lucrative fish along your route. Fish with a green background in the tracker are your primary targets during Spectral Currents.

Mastering Spectral Currents for Maximum Points

First Area Strategy: Conserve GP and Build Angler’s Art

Outside of Spectral Currents in the first area, your focus should be on GP conservation and building stacks of Angler’s Art. Employ Prize Catch when your GP is full to accumulate these stacks efficiently. This setup allows you to initiate powerful combos with 950+ GP, leveraging Thaliak’s Favor to replenish GP during subsequent Spectral Currents.

If a Spectral Current occurs in the first area, resist the urge to use Thaliak’s Favor immediately. Instead, continue to build Angler’s Art stacks, aiming for 6 to 9 stacks in preparation for the more rewarding Spectral Currents in later areas.

During the first area’s Spectral Current, execute this combo for a strong point burst when you hook a high-value fish: Prize Catch -> Identical Cast -> Double Hook -> Cordial HQ -> Double Hook.

Second and Third Area Strategy: Unleash Powerful Combos

In the second and third areas, outside of Spectral Currents, continue to maximize Angler’s Art stacks using Prize Catch. If you’ve reached 9 stacks and have full GP, you can also use Double Hook proactively to maintain momentum.

When a Spectral Current hits in the second or third area, you should be well-prepared with 950+ GP and 6-9 Angler’s Art stacks. Upon hooking a high-value fish (identified via the tracker), unleash the following high-scoring combo: Prize Catch -> Prize Catch -> Double Hook.

By consistently applying these strategies across two to three Spectral Current rotations, reaching 10,000 points and claiming the coveted Hybodus Mount becomes readily achievable. With the right tools and strategic execution, you’ll master Ocean Fishing in FFXIV and reel in impressive rewards.
