Sustainable Practices: Leaving Only Footsteps

At Glacier Guides Lodge, we are deeply committed to environmental stewardship and strive to minimize our impact on the pristine beauty of Glacier National Park. Our glacier guides lodge was built with many LEED-certified specifications, reflecting our dedication to sustainable practices. We are proud to be recognized by TripAdvisor as a Green Leader. Our eco-conscious initiatives include:

  • Locally Handcrafted Furnishings: We prioritize locally sourced and handcrafted furniture. Pine writing tables and nightstands are crafted by Amy Nadeau in Whitefish, Montana, and dressers are handcrafted by Mark Holmes of Rustic Furniture Ranch in the Bitterroot Valley, Montana. Even our mattresses are built locally in Bozeman, Montana at the Mattress Mill.
  • Energy-Efficient Operations: We utilize fluorescent and LED lighting throughout the lodge and employ high R-value insulation to minimize heating and cooling loss. Our in-house laundry is energy and water-efficient, reducing our transportation footprint.
  • Water Conservation: Low-flow toilets and showerheads are installed in all bathrooms to conserve water. We also encourage guests to participate in our linen reuse program.
  • Eco-Friendly Bath Amenities: Instead of single-use toiletries, we provide refillable dispensers for high-quality shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap, significantly reducing plastic waste.
  • Sustainable Dining Practices: We use washable and reusable dishes, cutlery, cups, and mugs for our breakfast service, eliminating single-use plastics and styrofoam. We proudly serve shade-grown, fair-trade coffee roasted locally by Montana Coffee Traders in Whitefish, Montana.
  • Recycling Efforts: We are committed to recycling everything possible, even with limited recycling options in Montana.
  • Low-Impact Materials: We have selected low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) carpets, paints, and stains to ensure better indoor air quality. Doors are handcrafted from local timber sourced just 15 miles from the lodge at RBM Lumber.
