YouTube TV offers a great feature that lets you customize your live guide. This means you can prioritize your favorite channels at the top and hide the ones you don’t watch. This article will guide you through the simple steps to personalize your YouTube TV channel lineup.
1. Sign In to YouTube TV
You’ll need to access YouTube TV from a computer or the mobile app to customize the live guide. This feature isn’t available directly from your TV. To begin, sign in to your account using your web browser at tv.youtube.com or open the YouTube TV app on your smartphone or tablet.
2. Access the Live Guide Settings
Once logged in, you need to find the settings to customize your live guide. The process is similar on both the computer and the mobile app:
- Click your profile icon, usually located in the upper right corner.
- Select “Settings” from the dropdown menu.
- Choose “Live guide” from the available options.
3. Select Your Favorite Channels
Next, choose which channels you want to feature in your personalized live guide.
If you’re using a computer, click the up arrow located to the right of each channel to move it to the “Top Channels” section. These channels will now appear first in your customized guide. You can further customize the order by using the handles on the left to drag and drop the channels into your preferred arrangement.
On the YouTube TV mobile app, there are no arrows. Instead, tap the checkbox next to the channels you want in your guide. Reorder them by using the handles on the right side of the screen to drag them into your preferred order.
4. Hide Channels You Don’t Want to See
YouTube TV allows you to completely remove channels from your custom live guide.
The method for hiding channels varies slightly depending on whether you’re using a computer or the mobile app:
- On a computer, click the eye icon to hide a channel. Clicking the eye icon again will unhide the channel.
- In the mobile app, uncheck the box next to any channel you want to remove from the guide.
5. Refresh Your Custom Guide on Your TV
After selecting your favorite channels and hiding the unwanted ones, you can enjoy your custom guide on all your supported devices, including your TV.
On your TV, navigate to the live guide and press the menu button (usually three horizontal lines) located above the channel logos.
You’ll find a list of options for displaying the live guide, including “Default,” “Custom,” “Most watched,” “A-Z,” and “Z-A.” Select “Custom,” and the guide you created should appear.
If the custom guide doesn’t load immediately, select “Custom” again to refresh the system.
You can also select a display option for your guide from a computer or the YouTube TV mobile app. Ensure that “Custom” is selected to view your personalized live guide.
