Season 8 Guide

Elemental Requirements for Imaginarium Theater Season 8

Elemental Requirement
Pyro Characters

Season 8 of Imaginarium Theater features Pyro, Hydro, and Anemo elements. During this season, only characters with these elements, alongside Special Guests, can participate in the Theater challenges. Strategize your team compositions accordingly!

Opening Characters and Special Guests in Season 8

Opening Characters
Venti
Hu Tao
Special Guests
Yun Jin
Ororon

Opening Characters are mandatory for your Principal Cast, while Special Guests provide optional additions to your Supporting Cast.

If you lack any of the designated Opening Characters, or they don’t meet the challenge criteria, Trial versions will be available for use! Special Guest Stars, however, require you to own them already; no trials are provided. If you don’t own any Special Guests, you simply won’t be able to include them in your team.

Fantastical Blessing for Season 8

Fantastical Blessing
This season’s Opening Characters, when in your party, grant a 20% increase to Max HP, Attack, and Defense.

Fantastical Blessings provide a significant boost specifically to the Opening Characters within the Imaginarium Theater, and this buff extends to all other game modes as well!

Challenge Difficulties and Boss Enemies in Imaginarium Theater

Boss Enemies
Easy Mode
Normal Mode
Hard Mode
Visionary Mode

Each Act in Imaginarium Theater features specific Boss Enemies acting as “Villains” within the narrative. These Boss stages present varying levels and objectives depending on the chosen difficulty.

Introduced in Version 5.0, Visionary Mode offers a heightened challenge with stronger enemies and two additional Acts, culminating in a final boss encounter in Act 10!

How to Play Imaginarium Theater: A Step-by-Step Guide

Performance Prep: Selecting Your Challenges

The Performance Prep menu displays available challenges across three difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, and Hard Mode. Each difficulty consists of a set number of combat performances, or Acts: 3 for Easy, 6 for Normal, and 8 for Hard Mode, each with unique requirements. Visionary Mode, the highest difficulty, features 10 Acts.

Seasonally Rotating Requirements

Similar to the Abyssal Moons in Spiral Abyss, the requirements and restrictions within Imaginarium Theater change with each new season, ensuring fresh and engaging challenges.

Supporting Cast: Borrowing and Lending Characters

Travelers can designate up to seven of their characters as Supporting Cast. This allows friends to borrow these characters to use in their own Imaginarium Theater challenges.

These Supporting Cast characters must meet the current challenge requirements and can be borrowed up to 15 times per season! However, in any single challenge, only one Supporting Character can be selected at a time.

Principal Cast: Utilizing Designated Opening Characters

When tackling Imaginarium Theater, players are restricted to using specific Opening Characters for their Principal Cast. You can choose to use your own characters if you possess them, or utilize the Trial characters provided for the challenge.

Fantastical Blessings Buff for Opening Characters

The six designated Opening Characters in your Principal Cast receive Fantastical Blessings, granting them special buffs. These powerful buffs are active both within Imaginarium Theater and in all other game content, lasting for the duration of the current challenge period!

If you own the featured Principal Cast characters, the buff will automatically apply to them throughout the entire season.

Alternate Cast: Selecting Your Roster

Travelers must select a minimum of 8 to 22 characters to serve as Alternate Cast members, depending on the chosen difficulty. This roster can include up to one Supporting Cast character. Alternate Cast members must also adhere to the elemental requirements of the ongoing Imaginarium Theater cycle, with Special Guest Stars being the exception. Visionary Mode requires a minimum of 22 Alternate Cast members, but allows for up to 26, with each additional member providing bonus stats: HP +1600, ATK +100, DEF +100, and Elemental Mastery +40.

Difficulty Required No. of Alternate Cast Members
Easy 8
Normal 12
Hard 16
Visionary 22 (minimum)

After commencing a challenge, you’ll have opportunities to add characters to your Principal Cast after each battle, or through Companion Events.

Special Guest Characters: Breaking Elemental Restrictions

Among your Alternate Cast choices, you’ll find Special Guest characters who are exempt from the elemental restrictions of the current challenge. However, you must own these Special Guests to utilize them.

Vigor System: Character Fatigue

Imaginarium Theater introduces a unique Vigor System. Each character starts with two Vigor stacks. Vigor Stacks deplete with each battle, and once a character’s Vigor is fully depleted, they can no longer participate in combat during the current run.

This Vigor system demands strategic character rotation, unlike the Spiral Abyss where rotations are primarily based on team combos and elemental reactions. Careful Vigor management is key to success!

Fantasia Flowers: Triggering Special Events

In each Act, you can choose from various events. Fantasia Flowers are used to select Companion Events, Wondrous Boons, or Mystery Caches. Completing an event returns you to the event selection screen.

External Audience Support: Random Bonuses

There’s a chance to randomly receive External Audience Support, granting you benefits ranging from additional Fantasia Flowers to upgrades for your Wondrous Boons.

Battle Events: Completing Acts

Acts are completed by finishing a Battle Event. Before selecting a Battle Event, you can preview the enemies and objectives. Only Battle Events reward Fantasia Flowers, making them crucial for progressing and utilizing other event types.

Companion Interactions Between Acts

Between Acts, you’ll find yourself in the theater lobby, where you can interact with the characters you recently used and engage in conversations!

Restarting or Rewinding Performances

If you fail to meet the objectives, Imaginarium Theater offers Restart or Rewind options. Restart allows you to retry the current Battle Event in the Act. Rewind takes you back to the Act following the last Boss fight you successfully completed.

Rewind Checkpoints: Returning to a Previous Act

Choosing Rewind, for example at Act 5, will return you to the start of Act 4 (after Act 3’s completion). Your characters, Vigor, and Fantasia Flowers will reset to their state at the end of Act 3, providing a strategic fallback point.

Performance Rewards: Claiming Your Trophies

Upon completing all Acts in an Imaginarium Theater Performance, you can claim Performance Tour Rewards. You can also prematurely end a Performance and collect rewards by accessing the Performance Details section during an ongoing challenge.

Imaginarium Theater Event Types Explained

Battle Event: Combat Challenges

Battle Events are diverse combat encounters where you must defeat waves of enemies. Completing a Battle Event concludes the current Act and allows progression to the next.

Companion Event: Adding Characters to Your Cast

Companion Events enable you to recruit a character from your Alternate Cast to join your current team, bolstering your roster for upcoming Battle Events.

Mystery Cache: Event Card Modifiers

Mystery Cache events present a choice between two event cards. Selecting a card, for a Fantasia Flower cost, can grant special effects that modify other Events you encounter throughout the run.

Wondrous Boon: Challenge Buffs

Wondrous Boon Events offer a selection of randomized Wondrous Boon cards, each providing buffs applicable within the Imaginarium Theater challenge. These buffs often have specific activation conditions to consider.

Reaction-Buffing Events: Elemental Synergy

Based on the elemental focus of the current Imaginarium Theater challenge, Reaction-Buffing Events regularly appear. These events are designed to enhance elemental reactions, increasing damage and overall effectiveness.

These events are categorized as Origin, Evolution, or Divergence.

Event Sub-Type Description
Origin • Enhances the base reaction. • Generally increases overall reaction damage.
Evolution • Further amplifies reaction damage. • Increases the buff’s potency.
Divergence • Alters the buff’s effect while maintaining its relation to the reaction.

Origin events are always the initial offering, establishing the baseline buff for the featured elemental reactions. They provide a direct boost to reaction performance.

Evolution and Divergence events become available after an Origin event for the same reaction has been chosen. The decision to enhance the current buff (Evolution) or modify its effect (Divergence) depends on your strategic preference.
