Understanding Our Rating Metrics for Machinist Guides

To assist players, especially newcomers, in understanding the nuances of the Machinist class, we employ a set of standardized rating metrics across our build guides. These metrics provide a quick snapshot of key class characteristics. We understand that the interpretation of these metrics can sometimes be unclear, so we’re providing a detailed explanation of our evaluation approach.

It’s important to remember that a class’s playstyle can dramatically evolve as you progress through Lost Ark’s tiers and unlock powerful gear set bonuses. These transformations are thoroughly discussed within each specific build guide. Consequently, our metrics are specifically calibrated to reflect the endgame performance of each class build.

Furthermore, certain classes, including the Machinist, offer diverse skill configurations and Engraving choices within the same general build archetype. The selection of specific Engravings can significantly alter a class’s playstyle, potentially trading survivability for increased damage output, or vice versa. In such cases, our metrics typically represent an average assessment, with detailed explanations of build variations provided within the corresponding build guide.

Here’s a breakdown of each metric used in our Machinist (Scouter) guides:

  • Difficulty: This rating focuses solely on the inherent complexity of the class’s core mechanics, independent of other factors. A class with a straightforward rotation and easily grasped mechanics will be rated as less difficult. Conversely, classes or builds that demand intricate resource management or stance switching for optimal damage output are considered more difficult. The Machinist, with its drone control and synergy requirements, sits at a moderate difficulty level, demanding practice to master effectively.

  • Mobility: Mobility is assessed based on the availability of movement skills and the class’s primary stat focus. Builds prioritizing Swiftness generally exhibit higher mobility compared to those emphasizing Specialization. The Machinist possesses decent mobility tools, allowing for strategic positioning in combat.

  • Survivability: Survivability ratings are directly determined by the base HP and Defense scaling inherent to each class. These are fixed attributes. The Machinist is considered to have average survivability, requiring players to be mindful of positioning and utilize defensive skills when necessary.

  • Positional: This metric indicates the importance of positional attacks, categorized as “None,” “Optional,” “Beneficial,” “Recommended,” or “Mandatory” for Front Attack or Back Attack. For classes with multiple Back Attack skills, Tripods, and buffs that significantly amplify damage from positional attacks, we categorize them as “Back Attack Mandatory.” While the Machinist can benefit from positional attacks, it’s not strictly mandatory for all builds, offering flexibility in playstyle.

Upcoming Enhancements to Class Guides

Our team is actively working on updating class guides for classes significantly impacted by recent and upcoming balance patches. While we don’t have a precise ETA for the next balance adjustments, we are taking this opportunity to refine outdated sections and restructure existing guides. For instance, classes like Destroyer and Artillerist, which currently have single Raid Build guides, will be expanded to feature separate guides for each Class Engraving, providing more specialized and in-depth information.

Beyond creating new content, we are committed to continuously improving our existing resources. Your feedback has been invaluable in this process. We encourage you to join our Discord community and utilize the #la-bug-reports channel to report any bugs, inaccuracies, or guide errors you encounter. We are dedicated to ensuring our content remains the most accurate, helpful, and up-to-date resource available for Lost Ark players.

On behalf of the entire Maxroll Lost Ark team, we extend our sincere gratitude for your ongoing feedback and support!
