Today’s Wordle Answer Revealed

So, what is the Wordle answer for game #1,338?

The answer is SUAVE.

Hello Wordlers! Today’s answer, SUAVE, might be a streak-breaker for some. It was a close call for me as well, requiring all six attempts to finally land on the solution. The ‘V’ only appeared for me on the fifth try!

As usual, I began with my go-to starting word, ORATE. This word is effective because it contains all five of the most common Wordle letters. It seemed promising with both ‘A’ and ‘E’ turning green, narrowing down the possibilities to 50 according to WordleBot.

However, WordleBot’s best Wordle start words would have been even more efficient. Words like LAPSE and SPARE would have reduced the options to just 17, while SLATE, STARE, and STALE would have brought it down to 14. Starting with SPATE could have left you with only 13 possibilities.

For my second guess, I aimed to incorporate ‘L’, ‘I’, ‘S’, ‘N’, and ‘C’, choosing the word SCALE. This proved helpful, with ‘S’ joining ‘A’ and ‘E’ in green, further reducing the potential answers to eight, according to WordleBot*.

Eight remaining possibilities is still a significant number with only a few attempts left. I first tried SNAKE, but no new letters were revealed.

Next, I went with SPADE. Still no luck.

Then I tried SHAVE. Aha! A green ‘V’ appeared!

After mentally reviewing the remaining letters and considering potential duplicates, SUAVE was the only word that fit. I entered it and solved the puzzle on my sixth attempt. Phew, close call!

Hopefully, SUAVE didn’t break your Wordle streak today. Join us again tomorrow for more Wordle hints and answers from Tom’s Guide.

* The remaining possibilities WordleBot listed were: SHADE, SHAME, SHAPE, SHAVE, SUAVE, SPADE, SNAKE, and SHAKE.

Yesterday’s Wordle Answer

Reading this in a different time zone? The Wordle answer for game #1,337 was CROOK.

Yesterday’s Wordle, CROOK, was definitely a challenging one. It’s not a commonly used word and features a double letter, which can often throw players off. However, it does contain ‘O’, one of the most common Wordle letters.

My starting word, ORATE, revealed the ‘R’ in the correct position (green) and ‘O’ in the word but in the wrong place (yellow). This narrowed down the possibilities to 42, according to WordleBot.

Again, WordleBot’s best Wordle start words would have provided a better starting point. TROPE would have left 34 options, while CARET would have reduced it to 20. Opening with TRACE, CRANE, or CLOSE could have limited the possibilities to just 13.

Prioritizing ‘L’, ‘I’, ‘S’, ‘N’, and ‘C’ for my second guess, I chose IRONY. This turned the ‘O’ green, but still left 23 potential answers according to WordleBot*.

On my third attempt, I made a mistake by reusing a letter in the same position. Despite this error, I still had 13 possible answers remaining.

Next, I tried GROWL. No new letters were revealed.

Then VROOM? Still no new letters, but the second ‘O’ turned green, leaving only one possible answer.

After a few moments of thought, CROOK emerged as the solution. I entered it and secured a squeaky win on my sixth attempt.

Hopefully, you solved yesterday’s Wordle with fewer attempts than I did! Check back with Tom’s Guide tomorrow for more Wordle help.

* WordleBot listed these remaining possibilities: CROSS, CROWD, GROOM, GROSS, DROLL, CROOK, GROWL, FROCK, DROOL, CROCK, DROSS, VROOM, FROSH, PROOF, PROUD, PROWL, PROMO, BROOM, BROOD, BROOK, GROUP, DROOP, and CROUP.

Tom’s Guide Wordle Tips and Strategies for Success

The most crucial Wordle tip Tom’s Guide can offer is to use one of the best Wordle start words. We cannot emphasize this enough – it significantly improves your chances of solving the puzzle quickly.

Without a strategic starting word, you’re essentially guessing blindly, trying to identify the correct letters from the alphabet. However, experts have analyzed letter frequency in the English language and within Wordle answers to pinpoint the most effective starting words. Utilize this research to your advantage!

Secondly, consider letter combinations, especially at the beginning and end of words. Common pairings like SH, ST, CR, and CH appear frequently in Wordle answers.

Vowels are also important to think about. While not every Wordle answer contains multiple vowels, many do, and some even have three. A good starting word will incorporate a couple of vowels. If your initial guesses don’t reveal any vowels, consider including more in your subsequent attempts. And don’t forget the letter Y – it often acts as a vowel substitute and frequently appears at the end of words.

Finally, test out potential answers. As long as you don’t hit “Enter,” you can try different word combinations to see how they look on the Wordle grid. Incorporate letters you know are in the word and experiment with different arrangements. This technique can be particularly useful for less obvious words.

Wordle’s popularity surged towards the end of 2021, going viral in January 2022 as players worldwide embraced the simple yet addictive puzzle. Its success led The New York Times to acquire Wordle for a seven-figure sum in early February, making it part of NYT Games.

You can play Wordle for free on the NYT Games website. Both the NYT and Wordle’s creator, Josh Wardle, have affirmed that it will remain free to play. Despite some player speculation, Wordle has not become harder since the NYT acquisition.

Wordle’s premise is simple: guess a five-letter word in six attempts. Each guess reveals which letters are in the target word and if they are in the correct position. Green indicates a correct letter in the right place, yellow means the letter is in the word but misplaced, and gray signifies the letter is not in the word at all.
