## Valby Build Guide for The First Descendant

Valby stands out as a formidable area-of-effect (AOE) damage dealer, leveraging her water-based abilities for both offensive and defensive maneuvers. Her skills allow for strategic battlefield control, enabling her to damage and evade enemies effectively. Valby is an excellent pick for players who favor high damage potential combined with robust survivability. While her AOE focus makes her exceptional against groups of enemies, she may face challenges against single, powerful bosses. Mastering Valby hinges on a deep understanding of her skill nuances and a thoughtful application of attack and movement strategies.

Valby's gameplay is generally straightforward, offering both significant damage and impressive mobility. Her ability to preemptively deploy ground-based damage areas gives her a tactical edge even before engagements begin. However, scenarios with limited movement control, such as boss fights in confined spaces, can be less favorable. To truly unlock Valby's potential, the "Bubble Bullet" skill is key. It creates small puddles upon impact, damaging enemies over time and significantly reducing mana consumption when you stand within them. This puddle mechanic allows for near-unlimited ability spam when combining water and bubble tactics. Let’s explore the optimal Valby Build in The First Descendant with this detailed guide.

| Valby Build Pros | Valby Build Cons |
|---|---|
| High Mobility | Less Effective Against Bosses |
| Area of Effect Damage (AOE) | Reliance on Water Paths for Max Efficiency |

### Valby's Skill Breakdown: Mastering Water-Based Combat

Valby's skills revolve around the "Laundry" debuff, applied through water-based attacks. This debuff is crucial for damage over time and provides mana regeneration when standing in affected areas. Focus on applying Laundry to enemies and utilizing puddles for sustained combat advantage. Here’s a detailed look at Valby’s skills:

- **Bubble Bullet**: Launches a bouncing projectile that creates a small puddle at the impact point and at Valby’s location. Enemies in these puddles take continuous damage and are inflicted with Laundry.
- **Plop Plop**: Valby creates a large puddle at her location, dives into it, and reappears at a chosen spot within the puddle. Enemies in the large puddle suffer continuous damage and receive the Laundry debuff.
- **Clean Up**: Valby becomes Liquefied, increasing movement speed and defense, and allowing passage through enemies. While Liquefied, she leaves a trail of water that damages and inflicts Laundry on enemies. Skill usage is disabled in this state.
- **Laundry Bomb**: Temporarily swaps your weapon to a Laundry Bomb Launcher. Bombs pull in Laundry-debuffed enemies and deal continuous damage.
- **Water Intake (Passive)**: Reduces mana cost by 30% when using skills while standing on water, including puddles created by Valby's own skills.

#### Best Skill Focus: Bubble Bullet

Bubble Bullet is arguably Valby's best skill, providing a versatile tool for damage, debuffing, and mana sustain. It delivers initial impact damage, damage over time through puddles, applies Laundry, and reduces mana consumption when you utilize the water trails. The core strategy with Valby is to apply Laundry, weakening enemy resistance to Electric and Non-Attribute damage, which synergizes well with characters like Bunny and Sharen, and weapons like the Thunder Cage Ultimate.

*Alt Text: Guide to using Bubble Bullet skill effectively in The First Descendant, emphasizing range and puddle creation for damage and mana efficiency.*

```markdown
For optimal Bubble Bullet use, engage enemies from a distance. The damage scales with the number of bounces before impact. While the cooldown is 10 seconds, modules can further reduce it. The Materialized Mixture reactor enhances Bubble Bullet and other Fusion attribute abilities like Laundry Bomb.
In boss encounters, prioritize using Bubble Bullet at range to create puddles. Even if the boss isn’t directly hit, positioning yourself in the puddle significantly reduces mana costs, enabling ability spam.  Start combat with Bubble Bullet, followed by Laundry Bomb to transform your weapon into a potent water cannon.  Combine puddle positioning with bomb attacks for sustained damage against bosses and efficient mob clearing.
The Laundry debuff from Bubble Bullet also reduces Chill resistance. Pairing it with Viessa's Blizzard ultimate skill creates a devastating damage combo. Apply Laundry first, then unleash Blizzard for massive AOE or single-target damage.  Bubble Bullet’s low cooldown, high damage potential, AOE capability, and resource sustain make it your primary attack and the cornerstone of any effective Valby build.
This passive encourages puddle-based gameplay, reducing MP costs and enabling skill chaining. Use lingering puddles post-combat to recover MP before moving forward.
### Valby Gameplay Strategy in The First Descendant
To play Valby effectively, always position yourself in water puddles to minimize mana consumption and maximize damage output to enemies within the puddles. Valby’s water-based Arche allows fluid movement across the battlefield, delivering AOE damage to groups of enemies. Her knockdown ability adds valuable crowd control. Her playstyle centers around using Bubble Bullet and puddles for damage, MP recovery, and battlefield navigation.
**AOE vs. Single-Target Damage**: Valby excels in AOE damage scenarios, making her highly effective against multiple enemies. Single-target damage relies more on weapon choice. Utilize Bubble Bullet and Plop Plop to create and maintain puddles. Use ranged Bubble Bullet or close-range Plop Plop based on enemy positioning to maximize damage over time and resource sustain.
**Mobility and Speed**: Valby is one of the fastest characters, second only to Bunny. Clean Up provides superior mobility, allowing her to move through enemies, boost speed, and leave a damaging water trail. Use this offensively to debuff or defensively to escape.
**Boss Encounters and Ultimate Skills**: In boss fights, maintain puddles beneath the boss consistently. Manage cooldowns and rotate skills to ensure constant puddle damage. Use Laundry Bomb to control mobs that appear during boss encounters.
**Defensive and Survival Tactics**: Clean Up enhances survivability by providing invulnerability and a speed boost. While active, skill use is disabled, but it’s ideal for escaping dangerous situations.
### Valby’s Lore in The First Descendant
***“A dealer of continuous damage who moves around freely through her Water Arche. A terrifying torrent to her enemies, she’s always a refreshing ocean wave to her teammates.”***
Valby, a member of the Ingris Environment Watch, was deeply saddened by the environmental damage caused by war. Witnessing the pollution of nature and the disappearance of rivers, she sought to protect the ‘Last Emerald,’ a pristine lake in Vespers Woodland, hoping to restore Ingris's ecosystem.
However, her sanctuary was threatened when the Order of Truth invaded Vespers Woodland. Despite her military training, Valby, a non-Descendant, was overwhelmed defending the lake alone.  Brutally attacked and thrown into the lake, she believed her end was near, finding solace in dying within the ‘Last Emerald’.
##### Valby's Story Continued
As she sank, Valby’s survival instincts surged. “I want to fight again. I want to protect this lake… I want to become a great ocean that will swallow up every Vulgus there is…”
In that moment, a massive wave erupted from the lake, obliterating her attackers.  Where the lake stood, a human-shaped mass of water thrashed – Valby. At death’s door, she awakened her Arche, merging with the water and gaining endless aquatic mobility. She became the Last Emerald itself, a force of nature reborn.
