Essential Shopping List for Blacksmithing Leveling
Below is a shopping list detailing the materials you’ll need to level your Khaz Algar Blacksmithing up to skill level 65. Remember, material quality is irrelevant for leveling purposes, so always aim to purchase the most cost-effective options available.

Racial Bonuses for Blacksmithing
Certain races possess racial traits that grant bonuses to profession skills. These bonuses can allow recipes to remain orange (guaranteeing a skill point) for an additional 2-5 skill points beyond the normal range. This advantage can save you gold by enabling you to gain more skill points from crafting lower-level recipes.
The races with Blacksmithing skill bonuses are:
- Lightforged Draenei: +5 Blacksmithing skill
- Dark Iron Dwarves: +5 Blacksmithing skill
- Kul Tiran: +2 Blacksmithing skill
Leveling 1 – 15
Craft 48x Core Alloy – Requires 384x Echoing Flux, 480x Bismuth
You can purchase Echoing Flux from Borgos, who is located near the Blacksmithing trainer in Dornogal.
Crucially, keep all the Core Alloys you craft, as they will be essential for crafting subsequent recipes in this guide.
If you haven’t quite reached skill level 15 after crafting the Core Alloys, make one Dredger’s Plate Breastplate to reach the next stage.

Blacksmithing Specializations in War Within
Upon reaching Blacksmithing skill level 25, you will unlock access to Blacksmithing specializations.
While you will eventually have the opportunity to learn all three specializations, your initial choice is still important for your progression path. You’ll need 50 skill points to unlock your second specialization, 60 for the third, and 75 for the fourth.
However, the way you invest your Blacksmithing Knowledge Points is crucial. Take your time to explore the different specializations and carefully consider which path aligns best with your goals. Avoid rushing to spend your Knowledge Points without a well-defined plan. These points are a limited resource, so strategic and wise allocation is essential.
We highly recommend consulting our dedicated War Within Blacksmithing Specialization Guide. This guide provides a detailed overview of each specialization and sub-specialization, along with example builds to help you get started and make informed decisions.

Leveling Blacksmithing from 25 to 94
Leveling 25 – 31
The following weapon recipes will turn yellow sooner than armor recipes, making it efficient to craft them now to maximize skill point gains.
Craft 1 of each:

Leveling 31 – 38

- Dredger’s Developed Pauldrons – Requires 5x Bismuth, 2x Core Alloy
Leveling 40 – 42
Craft 1 of each:
- Adjustable Framework – Requires 1x Crystalline Powder, 1x Core Alloy
- Tempered Framework – Requires 1x Crystalline Powder, 1x Core Alloy
Leveling 42 – 50
Craft 1x Ironclaw Great Mace – Requires 10x Ironclaw Ore, 1x Core Alloy
Craft 3x Ironclaw Knuckles – Requires 3x Ironclaw Ore, 3x Core Alloy
Leveling 50 – 65
Craft 17x Forged Framework – Requires 17x Crystalline Powder, 17x Core Alloy
This recipe will turn yellow for the last 5 skill points, so you may need to craft slightly more than 17 to reach level 65.
Important: Consider selecting Everburning Forge as your second or third specialization at this point. It offers a cheaper alternative for leveling Blacksmithing from 65 onwards.
Leveling 65 – 75
If crafting Sanctified Alloys proves too expensive, you can skip this section and begin using Everburning Ignition to level at a lower material cost, albeit at a slower pace.
Craft 20x Sanctified Alloy – Requires 100x Echoing Flux, 20x Profaned Tinderbox, 20x Null Stone, 40x Ironclaw Ore, 20x Core Alloy
This recipe will turn green for the final 5 skill points, so crafting between 25-30 may be necessary. However, you might get lucky and require fewer.
If you find it profitable to sell Sanctified Alloys or can sell them close to your material costs, you can continue crafting them until they turn grey at skill level 80.
Leveling 75 – 94
Everburning Ignition will be orange until skill level 90. It has a 2-hour recharge time with 5 charges, allowing you to log in less frequently than every 2 hours to maximize its use.
Note: You can only hold a maximum of 10 Everburning Ignitions in your inventory at once. You’ll need to sell or use some to craft the recommended 30.
Craft 30x Everburning Ignition – Requires 30x Artisan’s Acuity, 150x Crystalline Powder, 30x Core Alloy
This leveling process will take approximately 3-4 days if you log in at least once every 10 hours to recraft Everburning Ignitions.
Leveling Blacksmithing from 94 to 100
While Everburning Ignition can grant skill points up to 100, it becomes green for the last 5 points, requiring significantly more crafts to reach maximum level. If you have access to epic armor or weapon recipes from specializations or drops, switching to crafting orders is recommended for these final levels.
These epic recipes require a Spark of Omen, a Bind on Pickup (BoP) crafting reagent obtainable only once every two weeks. Due to this limitation, utilizing the crafting order system is the most efficient approach for these last 6 skill points. Each epic recipe craft provides 3 skill points, meaning you will only need to complete 2 crafting orders.
Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing Specializations for Leveling
Recipes learned from both Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing specializations will grant skill points all the way to 100, ensuring any recipe from these specializations is viable for max-leveling.
Recipes from Vendors and Drops for Leveling
These recipes can be acquired from in-game vendors or the Auction House and offer alternative leveling paths.
Item | Recipe Source |
---|---|
Charged Slicer | Vendor: Khaz Algar World Vendors Cost: 150x Artisan’s Acuity, 1500x Kej |
Charged Facesmasher | Vendor: Lyrendal Cost: 150x Artisan’s Acuity |

Utilizing Crafting Orders for Final Skill Points
Once you have acquired recipes from specializations, vendors, or drops, you can leverage Crafting Orders to efficiently gain the last few skill points.
Public Orders: Limited Availability
When you open the Crafting Orders tab, remember to click “Search” in the top left corner of the Public Orders tab, as orders do not load automatically. However, you may not find many public crafting orders as they are often quickly filled by players when posted.
Public crafting orders have not been widely adopted by players in Dragonflight, and this trend is expected to continue in The War Within. Many players prefer guild or personal crafting orders for greater control over item quality and material usage. The unpredictable nature of public orders discourages widespread use, resulting in limited availability.
Adding to the challenge, Public Orders are realm-specific. You will only see orders from players on your own realm. Therefore, if you are on a low-population realm, public orders may be scarce or nonexistent.
NPC Orders: A Helpful Alternative
Fortunately, the introduction of NPC crafting orders provides a more accessible leveling method. You will frequently receive epic weapon and armor crafting orders from NPCs. However, be aware that you may not be able to fulfill some of these orders immediately, as they might require more Blacksmithing Knowledge Points than you currently possess.
These NPC orders are player-specific, meaning other players cannot claim them. Think of them as Personal Orders directed to you by NPCs. However, they are randomly generated, so there is no guarantee that you will receive orders for recipes you are currently able to craft.
Personal Orders: Advertising Your Services
To utilize Personal Orders for leveling, advertise your Blacksmithing services in the trade channel. Most players seeking personal orders prioritize Rank 5 items, so emphasize the recipes you can craft at that quality level in your advertising.
Additionally, actively monitor the trade channel in Dornogal for players specifically requesting items you can craft. Responding to these requests can provide a steady stream of personal crafting orders and facilitate your final levels of Blacksmithing.
