When the Past Was Around Guide: Unlocking Memories and Achievements

This guide provides a walkthrough for “When the Past Was Around,” helping you solve puzzles, collect achievements, and unravel the game’s poignant narrative.

Unveiling Memories: The Starting Point

Begin your journey by interacting with the environment. The first step is simple: turn on all the lights in the initial room. This seemingly mundane action sets the stage for the memories you’re about to explore.

Navigating the Rooftop: Puzzles and Achievements

The rooftop area presents several interactive elements. First, click on the clothesline and hang all the clothes. This action isn’t just for show; it’s a necessary step in progressing through the game.

Sound of Silence Achievement

For the “Sound of Silence” achievement, locate the radio on the left side of the rooftop and turn it off. This quick action will unlock the achievement.

1915 Achievement

The next achievement, “1915,” involves interacting with a safe. Input the code “1915” to unlock it.

Laundry Puzzle

To progress, locate the detergent on the left side of the room and take it.

Next, find the red bucket near the washing machine.

Now, fill the bucket with water from a nearby source.

Locate a scarf and place it inside the washing machine. Add both the water-filled bucket and the detergent to the machine.

Close the washing machine and turn it on. Allow it to run for a short period.

Deciphering Codes and Symbols

While the washing machine is running, return to the table. You’ll find a JNE JNX package and a red book on the chair.

The first code is represented by symbols: ■ ●▲ ● ■. Think of it like an “OwU” face to remember it easily.

The red book contains musical notes, each associated with a number:

  • 1 = 𝄞
  • 2 = 𝅘𝅥
  • 3 = 𝅗𝅥
  • 4 = ♫
  • 5 = 𝅘𝅥𝅮
  • 6 = 𝄇

Focus on remembering 𝅘𝅥 𝅗𝅥 ♫, as 𝄞 is usually at the beginning, and 𝄇 is often a default.

Once the washing machine is done, retrieve the scarf.

Counting the Objects

Examine the blanket; it has images of an owl, butterfly, broom, and birds. Count each of these:

  • Owl = 1
  • Butterfly = 9
  • Broom = 3
  • Birds = 5

Now input 1935 on the safe

Exploring the Garden: Pills, Seeds, and Owls

In the garden, take the pill lying on the ground.

To the left, input the musical note sequence: 𝄞 𝅘𝅥 𝅗𝅥 ♫ 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝄇.

Take the seed and plant it in the empty pot in the middle of the garden. Water it using the bucket.

Give both the pill and the flower to the owl.

Navigating the Hallway: Electricity, Birds, and Cones

In the hallway, click on the trash can on the right.

Input the numbers 13 12 15 into the electrical meter and turn it on.

Take the garden shovel from the bottom right of the hallway.

Return to the table on the left.

This puzzle involves moving birds and owls. The goal is to move all the birds from the right to the left and all the owls from the left to the right. Click in the following order (from left to right, bottom row first):

Owl 1 > Bird 1 > Bird 2 > Owl 1 > Owl 2 > Owl 3 > Bird 1 > Bird 2 > Bird 3 > Owl 1 > Owl 2 > Owl 3 > Bird 2 > Bird 3 > Owl 3.

Take the black cube. Go to the far left of the hallway and hang up a piece of clothing. Then, take the cutter from the blue shirt.

Digging and Discoveries

Return to the garden and use the garden shovel to dig.

You will find a cookie box. The solution for this box is random.

Open the box.

Take the black circle and return to the rooftop.

The Final Door: Unlocking the Past

Open the Jnx Package using the cutter.

Drag the pieces in the following order: 1 to the top, 2 to the bottom, leave one square, 3 to the right, 4 to the top, 5 to the far right, 4 to the bottom, 6 to the bottom, 3 to the left, flower to the bottom.

Take the black cone and go back to the locked door in the hallway.

Click on the door and place all the shapes.

Remember the OwO code? Click the symbols in this order: ■ ●▲ ● ■. If it doesn’t work the first time, right-click and try again.

This guide should help you navigate “When the Past Was Around.” Enjoy the game!
