Returning to your old high school might not be everyone’s idea of a good time. For some, it conjures memories of awkward phases and less-than-favorite teachers. However, my experience growing up in Dallas and attending Ursuline Academy, just a short distance from the SMU campus, was incredible. It was there that I discovered passions and interests, like student travel and student ambassador programs, that I continue to explore at SMU. Therefore, when SMU extended the invitation to tour guides to represent the university at our high schools during winter break, I was thrilled.
As a former tour guide at Ursuline, I was eager to leverage the skills honed there and further developed at SMU. My fellow tour guide and friend, Anna Scott Phillips, and I met with seven Ursuline seniors. We addressed all their questions about SMU. Being only two years removed from my Ursuline graduation, I found it easy to connect with them. The visit also underscored the advantages of attending a university in a familiar city. I am grateful for SMU’s incredible opportunity to return to my cherished high school to discuss the university I now love. My time at Ursuline was truly enjoyable, and I am excited to see what other amazing opportunities SMU has in store for me during my college journey!
