Blacksmithing Expert (150 – 225)

To advance beyond Blacksmithing skill 150, you must become an Expert Blacksmith. You will need to find an Artisan Blacksmith Trainer. You must be at least level 20 to learn Expert Blacksmithing.

Blacksmithing Specializations (Optional)

At Blacksmithing skill 200 and character level 40, you have the option to specialize in either Armorsmithing or Weaponsmithing. These specializations allow you to craft powerful, specialized items. Choosing a specialization is not mandatory for leveling Blacksmithing and can be done later.

    • 265 – 270 5x Imperial Plate Belt – 110 Thorium Bar, 30 Rugged Leather, 5 Aquamarine

The recipe for Imperial Plate Belt is obtained from a quest (level 50 required) in Tanaris from Derotain Mudsipper. You will need 20 Thorium Bars to complete the initial quest and learn the recipe.

The following two recipes are also available from the same NPC. Ensure you bring at least 80 Thorium Bars with you to acquire all three recipes in this questline!

  • 270 – 295 25x Imperial Plate Bracers – 500 Thorium Bar, 25 Star Ruby

You can acquire the Plans: Imperial Plate Bracers after completing the Imperial Plate Bracer quest (level 50 required) in Tanaris for Derotain Mudsipper. This quest requires 20 Thorium Bars. Note that this recipe may become yellow in skill points towards the end of this range, requiring you to craft a few extra to reach the next level.

  • 295 – 300 5x Imperial Plate Boots – 170 Thorium Bar, 5 Star Ruby, 5 Aquamarine
