World of Warcraft Classic Tailoring Guide: Leveling 1-300

This Classic WoW Tailoring leveling guide will show you the quickest and easiest method to increase your Tailoring skill from 1 to 300.

Tailoring in Classic WoW primarily uses cloths as materials. A great aspect of Tailoring is that you don’t need a gathering profession to acquire these cloths. This makes Tailoring a versatile profession that can be combined with any gathering skill. A particularly popular combination is with Enchanting. Tailors can craft cloth items, disenchant them, and then utilize the resulting dust and essences to level up their Enchanting skill. If you’re interested in leveling Enchanting alongside Tailoring, you might find my Classic WoW Enchanting leveling guide helpful.

If you’re still in the process of leveling your character or starting a new alt, I highly recommend checking out Zygor’s 1-60 Leveling Guide. It’s designed to significantly speed up your journey to level 60.

Classic Tailoring Trainers

You can begin your Tailoring journey by learning the profession from any of the NPCs listed below. However, you must reach level 5 before you can officially learn Tailoring.

To find a Tailoring trainer, you can also simply ask a guard in any major city for directions. The trainer’s location will then be marked with a red flag on your map for easy navigation.

Horde Trainers:

Alliance Trainers:

1 – 75

Journeyman Tailoring

To progress your Tailoring skill beyond 75, you will need to learn Journeyman Tailoring. This rank requires your character to be at least level 10. Note that not all Tailoring trainers can teach you Journeyman Tailoring; you need to seek out an Expert Tailor.

You can learn Journeyman Tailoring from the following NPCs:

Horde Trainers:

Alliance Trainers:

75 – 150

  • 75 – 100 140x Bolt of Wool Cloth – 560 Wool Cloth

  • 100 – 125 13x Simple Kilt – 52 Bolt of Linen Cloth, 13 Fine Thread

  • 125 – 150 45x Woolen Shirt – 90 Bolt of Wool Cloth, 45 Fine Thread, 90 Gray Dye (Make these until 145 if Bolt of Wool Cloth is cheap)

Expert Tailoring

To advance beyond skill level 150, you must learn Expert Tailoring, which requires character level 20. Again, not every Tailoring trainer will teach you this rank. You will need to find an Artisan Tailor.

Horde players can learn Expert Tailoring from Josef Gregorian in Undercity. He is located in the Tailoring shop. Alliance players can learn it from Georgio Bolero in Stormwind City, found in the Tailoring shop in the Trade District.

150 – 225

  • 150 – 170 50x Bolt of Silk Cloth – 200 Silk Cloth

  • 170 – 185 18x Azure Silk Hood – 36 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 36 Blue Dye, 18 Fine Thread

  • 185 – 205 20x Formal White Shirt – 60 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 20 Bleach, 20 Fine Thread (Use Woolen Shirt if you didn’t reach 150)

  • 205 – 215 20x Crimson Silk Vest – 80 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 40 Fine Thread, 40 Red Dye

  • 215 – 225 10x Orange Mageweave Shirt – 10 Bolt of Mageweave, 10 Orange Dye, 10 Heavy Silken Thread

Artisan Tailoring

To proceed past skill level 225, you must learn Artisan Tailoring, which requires character level 35. Artisan Tailoring is taught by Master Tailors, not just any trainer.

Horde players can find Daryl Stack in Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad Foothills. He is located in the building directly east of the Inn. Alliance players can learn from Timothy Worthington in Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh. He is on the top floor of the first small building on the left after you disembark from the boat.

225 – 300

260 – 280

You might consider crafting Runecloth Belt if you intend to sell your crafted items at the Auction House. While bags are more expensive to create, they are often in high demand and can potentially recoup your gold investment. If you prefer not to deal with selling a large quantity of bags, sticking to belts is a perfectly viable option.

The recipe for Runecloth Bag can be obtained at the 280-290 skill level range, detailed below.

280 – 290

  • 18x Runecloth Bag – 90 Bolt of Runecloth, 36 Rugged Leather, 18 Rune Thread

The Pattern: Runecloth Bag is sold by Qia in Everlook, Winterspring. You can find her inside the bank building, in the left corner immediately upon entering.

This recipe has a limited supply, meaning if another player has recently purchased it, you will need to wait for it to respawn. The restock time for this recipe appears to be somewhat random, ranging anywhere from 5 to 90 minutes. If there are many players camping Qia, it’s often more efficient to purchase the pattern from the Auction House instead.

290 – 300

  • 18x Runecloth Gloves – 72 Bolt of Runecloth, 72 Rugged Leather, 18 Rune Thread

The Runecloth Gloves recipe will turn yellow at skill level 290, so ensure you gather enough materials to craft approximately 18 pairs.

The Pattern: Runecloth Gloves is also sold by Qia in Winterspring and is another limited supply recipe.

Congratulations on reaching Tailoring skill level 300 in Classic WoW! I hope you found this guide helpful in your crafting journey.
