Welcome to the ultimate guide for leveling Blacksmithing in WoW Classic! This comprehensive walkthrough will show you the fastest and most efficient path to master Blacksmithing, taking you from skill level 1 all the way to 300.
Blacksmithing is a fantastic profession in Classic WoW, allowing you to craft powerful weapons and armor. However, it’s also known for being resource-intensive, particularly in terms of ores. Therefore, we highly recommend pairing Blacksmithing with Mining. Leveling Mining alongside Blacksmithing will not only provide you with a steady supply of the necessary materials but also save you a significant amount of gold that would otherwise be spent at the Auction House. If you’re looking to level Mining as well, be sure to check out our Classic Mining Leveling Guide 1-300 for a complementary profession guide.
If you’re still on your journey to level 60 or perhaps starting a new character, consider using a leveling guide to speed up the process. We recommend exploring Zygor’s 1-60 Leveling Guide, a popular choice for efficient leveling in Classic WoW.
Are You Playing Cataclysm Classic?
It’s important to note that if you’re playing Cataclysm Classic, this guide might not be entirely accurate for the 1-300 leveling portion due to changes in trainers and recipes. For Cataclysm Classic Blacksmithing, please refer to our dedicated Cataclysm Blacksmithing Leveling Guide.

Essential Shopping List for Blacksmithing
To effectively level Blacksmithing in WoW Classic, you’ll need a substantial amount of materials. Here’s a comprehensive shopping list to help you gather everything you need. Remember that these are estimates, and the exact quantities may vary slightly depending on crafting luck and recipe availability.
If you are planning to gather the ores yourself, pairing Blacksmithing with Mining is highly recommended. To maximize your farming efficiency, check out our detailed ore farming guides:

Finding Classic Blacksmithing Trainers
To begin your Blacksmithing journey, you’ll first need to learn the profession from a trainer. You can find Blacksmithing trainers in most major cities in WoW Classic. You must be at least level 5 to learn a profession.
Finding a trainer is easy. Simply ask any guard in a city for directions to the Blacksmithing trainer, and they will mark the trainer’s location on your map with a red flag.
Below are lists of Blacksmithing trainers for both the Horde and Alliance factions:

Note that not all Blacksmithing trainers can teach you this level; you need to seek out a designated Expert trainer.
