Introduction to the Black Myth: Wukong Trophy Guide

Welcome to the ultimate Black Myth: Wukong Trophy Guide! If you’re aiming to achieve platinum in this thrilling action-adventure game, you’ve come to the right place. Black Myth: Wukong, often compared to titles like God of War, offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for trophy hunters. While the game features a fixed difficulty, mastering its combat and exploration is key to success.

This comprehensive trophy guide will walk you through every step to unlock all trophies in Black Myth: Wukong. Thorough exploration is highly encouraged as it leads to valuable equipment and character upgrades. Attributes are enhanced through the skill tree and by trading Mind Cores with Xu Dog in Chapter 2 at the Cellar Shrine. The game unfolds across 6 primarily linear chapters, each demanding 3-5 hours depending on your exploration style. Keeper’s Shrines serve as checkpoints for health and mana recovery and also facilitate fast travel between chapters.

While boss encounters dominate gameplay, Black Myth: Wukong also includes engaging NPCs and side quests that contribute to your trophy progress. After defeating the final boss, you can continue your journey in free-roam mode by selecting “Continue Journey” at the Title Screen. This allows for post-game trophy cleanup before venturing into New Game+. However, initiating New Game+ will overwrite your current save, preventing a return to the previous state. Therefore, ensure you complete all desired tasks before starting a New Cycle. Platinum achievement in Black Myth: Wukong necessitates 100% game completion, easily tracked via the in-game “Journal” menu. Bosses are categorized as “Chiefs” (minibosses) and “Kings” (main bosses). By aiming for 100% completion, you’ll naturally unlock most trophies. Level up diligently during your initial playthrough, and then tackle any remaining trophies before starting New Game+. This Black Myth: Wukong trophy guide is designed to streamline your platinum journey.

Step 1: Story Completion & Missable Trophies (20-30 Hours)

Your initial focus should be completing the main story across 6 chapters. Remember, Black Myth: Wukong has a set difficulty for all players.

Thorough exploration is paramount. Rushing through the game will likely lead to being under-leveled and ill-equipped, increasing the difficulty significantly. 100% completion is required for the platinum trophy, encompassing all Bosses, NPC Quests, and Equipment. Engaging with side content during your story playthrough will save substantial time later. Defeat every unique enemy type you encounter to ensure they are registered for the Portraits Perfected trophy (100% journal completion). Enemies are added to the journal upon proximity, but you must defeat each type for it to count.

Upon defeating the final boss of Chapter 6, you’ll return to the Title Screen. Choose “Continue Journey” rather than “Enter a New Cycle.” Selecting “Continue Journey” places you back before the final encounter, allowing continued exploration. Fast travel to previous chapters is available via Keeper’s Shrines. Avoid “Enter a New Cycle” at this stage, as it initiates New Game+, overwriting your save and preventing access to your current game state.

For optional boss strategies and locations, consult the Black Myth: Wukong Boss Guide. This resource helps prevent missing any bosses. Alternatively, post-story or New Game+ cleanup is viable. For character upgrades, refer to collectible guides in Step 2.

Missable Trophies (Chapter Order) – Can be obtained in New Game+ if missed:

  • Urge Unfulfilled – Missable if you don’t exhaust dialogue with the Horse NPC in each chapter before moving on. (Chapters 1-5)
  • Mantled with Might – Missable if you fail to obtain the “Venomous Armguard” from the Venom Daoist in Chapter 4. Requires breaking his arms before defeating him.
  • Temple of Taint – Missable Secret Chapter 1 Boss “Elder Jinchi” – Requires ringing all 3 bells in Chapter 1.
  • Shifting Sands – Missable Secret Chapter 2 Boss “Fuban” – Requires completing the Drunken Boar Questline.
  • The Cockerel Crowed – Missable Secret Chapter 4 Boss “Duskveil” – Requires completing the Venom Daoist questline in Chapter 4.
  • Frost and Flame – Missable Secret Chapter 5 Boss “Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast” – Requires unlocking the Chapter 5 Secret Area.
  • Meet the Match – Missable Secret Ending – Requires specific actions throughout the game. See guide for details.

Step 2: 100% Completion Cleanup (10-20 Hours)

After completing Chapter 6, select “Continue Journey” at the Title Screen. You will respawn before the final boss, with access to all areas and chapters for collecting remaining items.

Platinum in Black Myth: Wukong demands 100% game completion: Bosses, Equipment, and Side Quests. Side Quests often lead to hidden bosses, and bosses drop essential equipment for various trophies.

Step 3: New Game+ (10 Hours)

New Game+ is essential for certain trophies. Initiate it from the Title Screen by choosing “Enter a New Cycle” after story completion. New Game+ provides an opportunity to collect any missed items or bosses from your first playthrough, especially since crafting all armor and weapons requires materials obtainable in New Game+. Prioritize completing all Secret Areas before starting New Game+ to maximize crafting materials.

WARNING: Starting New Game+ (“A New Cycle”) overwrites your save! Ensure complete cleanup or backup your save to PS+ Cloud. Once started, reverting is impossible without replaying.

New Game+ specific trophies:

  • Six Senses Secured – Unlocks at the start of New Game+, after initial cutscenes and tutorial boss fight. Requires collecting all 6 Relics during the main story.
  • Master of Magic – Unlocks at the start of New Game+, after initial cutscenes and tutorial boss fight. Requires obtaining all spells in the first playthrough. Refer to Spell Locations.
  • Page Preserver – Formula “Soul Remigration Pill” is exclusive to New Game+ vendors.
  • Brewer’s Bounty – Soak “Guanyin’s Willow Leaf” is exclusive to New Game+ vendors.
  • Staffs and Spears + Mantled with Might – Crafting all weapons/armor necessitates New Game+ due to material scarcity in a single playthrough. New Staffs are also introduced in New Game+. Boss-specific materials like “The Bull King’s Iron Horn” (Chapter 5 Secret Area boss “Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast”) require multiple playthroughs for full sets. Certain rare materials necessitate re-defeating bosses and reopening late-game chests.

For any remaining trophies after New Game+, start a New Cycle (New Game++) for cleanup. Progress carries over across Cycles.
