Dark Souls 3 Irithyll Dungeon Guide: Conquer the Chilling Depths

Irithyll Dungeon is a harrowing location in Dark Souls 3, filled with grotesque enemies and valuable items for those brave enough to explore its depths. This guide will lead you through every twist and turn of the dungeon, ensuring you don’t miss any crucial loot or hidden pathways. Prepare yourself for a chilling journey as we delve into the Irithyll Dungeon.

Starting Point: Distant Manor Bonfire

Begin your descent into the dungeon by warping to the Distant Manor bonfire. Head down the stairs and look to your right for a drop. Carefully descend here to find a Rusted Gold Coin.

From this lower platform, you can spot a Large Titanite Shard underneath the area you just dropped from. Be sure to grab this essential upgrade material.

As you venture outside, be prepared for an invasion by Alva, Seeker of The Spurned. Defeating Alva rewards you with the Murakumo, a formidable Curved Greatsword. The Murakumo boasts the longest reach among Curved Greatswords and scales exceptionally well with Dexterity when Sharp infused, making it a powerful weapon for Dexterity-focused builds.

Continue downstairs and locate the Irithyll Dungeon bonfire. Light it to establish a crucial checkpoint and prepare for the deeper dungeon exploration.

Exploring the Cells

In the initial cell block, check the first cell on the left to find another Rusted Coin. The second cell in this row contains a Large Titanite Shard, useful for weapon upgrades.

Proceed along the edge to find a Soul Pack. Continue to the very end of this section to discover another Large Titanite Shard.

Look down over the side and you’ll spot a place to drop down to obtain another Soul Pack.

Venture further into the cells. Inside one of them, you’ll discover the Old Sorcerer Set, a complete armor set for sorcerers. In the very last cell of this row, be wary of an infested enemy. Defeating it will reward you with the Great Magic Shield, a powerful tool for magic users.

Retrace your steps back up and this time, cross the bridge. Check the last cell on the right side of the bridge to find a Large Titanite Shard.

Look for Pale Pine Resin inside a cell near a broken wall. This resin adds significant magic damage to your weapon for a short duration, proving useful against many dungeon foes.

Shortcut and Hidden Ring

Open the shortcut door on your left as you exit the cell block area. Turn around immediately and enter the cell directly in front of you to find the Jailbreaker’s Key. This key will unlock more areas within the dungeon.

Backtrack to the other side of the bridge, to the location where a corpse emits a scream. Roll through the crates here to break open a window. Drop onto the ledges outside to pick up the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring. This ring significantly boosts sorcery damage, enhancing your offensive spellcasting capabilities.

Near the edge where you dropped for the ring, locate a Homeward Bone. This item provides a quick escape route if needed.

Re-enter the dungeon and be on the lookout for a Crystal Lizard. Defeat it to obtain a Titanite Scale, another valuable upgrade material.

Continue exploring the cells. In one of them, you may find a Simple Gem, used for infusion to grant weapons intelligence scaling and FP regeneration.

Deeper Dungeon and Mimics

Head outside and proceed towards the large room. Be cautious, as a Mimic is lurking in this room, disguised as a chest. Defeating it will reward you with an Estus Shard, increasing your Estus Flask charges.

Down the hallway from the Mimic room, at the very end, you can find a Soul Pack.

Backtrack slightly and locate the first hole in the floor. Drop down here carefully. Quickly eliminate the Crystal Lizard for a Titanite Chunk before the giant enemy in this area awakens. Also, grab the nearby Soul Pack.

Drop down onto the bridge below and proceed forward to pick up the Pickaxe. This weapon’s unique Weapon Art, Galvanize, boosts your stamina regeneration, useful in prolonged combat situations.

Continue onwards to find another Soul Pack. Ascend upwards until you see two chests in a cell. Open the chest on the right first to obtain the Old Cell Key, which unlocks further areas. Be prepared to fight Basilisks that emerge after opening the chest. Next, deal with the Mimic disguised as the chest on the left to acquire the Dark Clutch Ring. This ring increases dark attack power but reduces physical absorption, a trade-off for dark-focused builds.

Upper Dungeon Levels

Backtrack slightly and enter the tunnel. Pick up some Dung Pies along the way, useful for inflicting poison on enemies. Open the door at the end of the tunnel using the Old Cell Key.

To your left upon entering this new area, find some Large Titanite Shards.

Ascend the stairs and pick up the Dragon Torso Stone. Using this stone while unarmored transforms you into a dragon form, significantly increasing your attack power for a short duration, but at the cost of defense.

Continue upwards and to the right to find an elevator. Near the shortcut door next to the elevator, there’s a Soul Pack waiting to be collected.

Take the elevator downwards, but drop off midway down. Here, you can obtain the Lightning Blade miracle. This powerful miracle adds lightning damage to your weapon based on your catalyst’s Spell Buff, a potent buff for faith builds.

In the large open room at the bottom of the elevator, head left into a cell to find the Profaned Coal. This coal allows Blacksmith Andre to perform Dark, Blood, and Hollow infusions on your weapons.

In the middle of this large room, pick up an Ember. Another Ember can be found on the right side of the room.

Locate a corridor on the left side of the room. A Mimic lurks here, and defeating it rewards you with Titanite Scales.

In the second cell on the left side of this corridor, you’ll find the Xanthous Ashes and the Dusk Crown Ring. The Dusk Crown Ring reduces FP consumption for spells but also reduces your maximum HP, a risky but potentially rewarding item for spellcasters.

On the right side of this corridor, you can find Alva’s Set, the complete armor set worn by Alva, Seeker of the Spurned.

Dungeon Exit

Head outside to grab a final Soul Pack before crossing the bridge, leading you further into Irithyll and onwards in your Dark Souls 3 journey.
