The Liberty Falls Easter Egg in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies presents a thrilling, optional side quest for players diving into the undead chaos. For seasoned Call of Duty Zombies veterans, these hidden quests are a cherished tradition, packed with challenges and unique rewards. In the Liberty Falls map, this easter egg centers around assisting Dr. Panos within the mysterious Dark Aether Church, tasking you with a series of intricate objectives that significantly ramp up the survival pressure with each passing round.
Successfully completing the Liberty Falls easter egg unlocks a treasure trove of in-game content. You’ll gain access to an exclusive Ray Gun skin to customize your arsenal, the whimsical Mister Peeks weapon charm to personalize your gear, a unique calling card to showcase your achievement, and a substantial boost of XP to accelerate your progression. For those early adopters who conquer the easter egg before Season 1 of Black Ops 6 launches, an additional special calling card awaits, marking your early triumph. Beyond the cosmetic rewards, completing the easter egg allows you to continue your zombie-slaying session with a valuable cache of rare resources and weapon upgrades, alongside intriguing lore insights that hint at the unfolding narrative of Black Ops 6 Zombies.
Compared to the formidable Terminus easter egg in Black Ops 6 Zombies, the Liberty Falls challenge is considered more approachable, making it a rewarding endeavor for players of various skill levels. And let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to flaunt a custom Ray Gun variant to their squad? So, let’s dive straight into how to initiate and complete the Liberty Falls Main Quest Easter Egg and secure those coveted rewards.
Optimizing Your Loadout for the Liberty Falls Easter Egg
Before embarking on the easter egg journey, strategically adjusting your Zombies loadout can significantly ease the process, particularly if you’re tackling this challenge solo. During my successful solo run, the ASG-89 shotgun proved to be an invaluable asset, effortlessly dispatching hordes of zombies. The GS45 pistols in Black Ops 6 Zombies, especially when equipped with the Akimbo stock (unlocked at Weapon Level 31), are another excellent choice. Once Pack-a-Punched, these pistols unleash devastating explosive rounds, capable of shredding through zombie masses.
The selection of your Field Upgrade is a matter of personal preference and playstyle. Aether Shroud offers a tactical advantage by temporarily removing you from enemy detection, providing crucial moments of respite. However, I found the Energy Mine, enhanced with the ‘Turret’ and ‘Extra Charge’ researched augments, to be exceptionally effective. This setup transforms the Energy Mine into a defensive turret, effectively controlling zombie crowds while you focus on completing intricate objectives. Furthermore, equipping Smoke Grenades in your Tactical slot provides a safe haven within their radius, concealing you from zombie attacks for a limited duration.
While Gobblegums are optional, leveraging high-tier gums can substantially expedite the easter egg completion. Wonderbar! is particularly beneficial, guaranteeing a Wonder Weapon from the Mystery Box, potentially bypassing the time-consuming process of crafting the Thrustodyne M23 Jet Gun – unless, of course, you end up with the Ray Gun instead! Idle Eyes is another standout choice, rendering zombies oblivious to your presence for 30 precious seconds. Phoenix Up offers a safety net, instantly reviving your entire team (with their perks intact) should you fall during the final stages. Perkaholic grants immediate access to all perks, and Hidden Power elevates your weapon to maximum rarity, trivializing the survival aspect between rounds. With your loadout optimized, let’s proceed to the core steps of the Liberty Falls Easter Egg.
Initiating the Liberty Falls Easter Egg: Dark Aether Church
Although technically optional, the designated starting point for the Liberty Falls easter egg is within the Dark Aether Church, situated at the map’s rear. This location also houses the Pack-a-Punch machine, a crucial upgrade station. Enter the church by spending essence and locate the SDG Generator on the right wall. Interact with it by holding the interact button. This action triggers a brief whiteout effect and introduces you to Dr. Pericles Panos, who appears on the church balcony, initiating the questline.
Crafting the Thrustodyne M23 Jet Gun: Gathering Components
The initial main objective of the Liberty Falls easter egg is to construct the Thrustodyne M23, a unique Wonder Weapon specific to this map, which we’ll refer to as the Jet Gun for brevity. While the Jet Gun can be randomly obtained from the Mystery Box, bypassing this crafting process, relying on luck might be time-consuming. To craft it, you’ll need to locate three distinct components: the Handbrake, the Water Pressure Gauge, and the Electrical Wires. Let’s acquire them in that order.
Locating the Handbrake: The Groundskeeper and Toolshed Key
During a standard round, venture into the cemetery situated to the right of the Dark Aether Church. Navigate near the Aether storm within the cemetery and eliminate the incoming zombie waves. With some patience, a unique zombie variant known as the Groundskeeper will eventually spawn. Distinguished by his hat, red flannel shirt, and dungarees, the Groundskeeper’s appearance is random, so persistent gameplay is key to encountering him. Once he appears, eliminate the Groundskeeper to obtain the Toolshed Key he drops.
Exiting the cemetery, turn left and proceed away from the church. You’ll spot a Toolshed at the map’s edge, with a water tower visible in the distance to the right. Interact with the Toolshed door to unlock it using the key. Inside, you’ll find the Handbrake resting on a table. Collect it to proceed.
Acquiring the Water Pressure Gauge: Washington Avenue and Fuller’s Liberty Lanes
From the Toolshed, make your way to Washington Avenue, the long street recognizable by the Speed Cola machine. Locate a cluster of flower pots displayed outside a purple building. To the left of these flower pots, you’ll find an exposed water pipe with a valve on top. Interact with the valve to detach and collect it. Remember, you can always verify collected items by navigating to the ‘Scoreboard’ tab within the in-game menu to check your inventory.
With the valve in your possession, proceed to Fuller’s Liberty Lanes, the bowling alley located on the opposite side of the map. Inside the bowling alley, head towards the right-hand wall and follow it along the lane until you encounter a box. Melee the box to reveal the ‘Turn Water Valve’ prompt. Be prepared, as zombies will spawn immediately upon initiating this process. Deploy your Energy Mine turrets, if available, or utilize Blast Traps, Monkey Bombs, or Decoys to manage the incoming horde. Alternatively, the Smoke Grenade’s concealment or the Idle Eyes Gobblegum’s zombie-pausing effect can offer temporary respite while interacting. Raising the meter requires a considerable duration, making this step particularly challenging for solo players. Once the meter is fully raised, the Water Pressure Gauge will drop. Collect it and quickly evacuate the area.
Securing the Electrical Wires: Radio House Electronics Superstore
Next, head to the Radio House Electronics Superstore, situated in the Riverside section at the map’s lower end, across from Olly’s Comics. You’ll notice the store entrance is gated. This gate can be specifically destroyed by a blast from a Mangler’s cannon – a special armored zombie variant.
If you’ve reached Level 20, you can craft a Mangler Cannon at a crafting table for 1250 Salvage. Alternatively, you can wait for a Mangler to naturally spawn, guide it towards the store, position yourself in front of the gates, and bait it into charging its weapon. Dodge at the last moment, and the Mangler’s blast will shatter the gate. Once inside the store, interact with the piles of scrap scattered on the floor until you locate the Electrical Wires among them.
Assembling the Jet Gun: Motor Lodge Crafting Table
With all three Jet Gun components collected – the Handbrake, Water Pressure Gauge, and Electrical Wires – proceed to the Motor Lodge, which serves as the starting area. Ascend the stairs to the second floor of motel rooms. Follow the left path towards the dead end. A door will automatically open, unleashing a wave of zombies. Eliminate the approaching horde. Once the area is clear, enter the opened room. At the back, you’ll find a crafting table. Interact with it to assemble the Jet Gun using the collected components.
Crafting the LTG Device: Utilizing the Jet Gun’s Vacuum
With the Jet Gun now in your arsenal, it becomes instrumental in the next phase of the easter egg. You must now locate three LTG Device parts scattered across the map. These parts can only be acquired by using the Jet Gun’s vacuum function. Equip the Jet Gun and hold RT/R2 near each part to vacuum it into your inventory.
LTG Device Part 1: Olly’s Comics Rooftop
The first LTG Device part is hidden within Olly’s Comics, located in the Riverside area at the map’s bottom. This comic book store is identifiable by the superhero statue outside. You’ll need to unlock the store door to gain entry. Once inside, proceed to the counter in the shop’s center and look upwards. You’ll spot a part with a distinct purple glow, concealed within the roof structure. Equip the Jet Gun and use its vacuum function with the right trigger button to suck the part into your inventory.
LTG Device Part 2: Washington Avenue Rooftop Zipline
From Olly’s Comics, head up to Washington Avenue. Locate the large truck parked on the street near the Speed Cola machine. Ascend the path towards the Dark Aether Church and stay close to the left wall. This path leads to an area allowing rooftop access, where a zipline is located. Standing to the left of the zipline, the second LTG Device part will be visible beneath your feet. Aim downwards and use the Jet Gun’s vacuum to collect it. Alternatively, you can jump onto the truck from the rooftop and attempt to vacuum the part through the open window.
LTG Device Part 3: Dark Aether Church Balcony
The final LTG Device part is located back in the Dark Aether Church. It hangs suspended in the air to the left of the balcony where Dr. Panos is positioned. Utilize the pews to gain height and vacuum the part using your Jet Gun. While you are in the church, interact with the SDG Generator again, similar to the easter egg’s beginning, to trigger additional dialogue from Dr. Panos regarding the LTG Device construction.
Assembling the LTG Device: Savings & Loan Building Rooftop
With all three LTG Device parts secured, your next destination is the rooftop of the Savings & Loan building, the bank situated in the map’s central area. You can utilize the zipline from the location of the second LTG Device part or any other ziplines scattered across Liberty Falls to reach the bank rooftop. Once on the roof, proceed to the far corner to find a specialized workbench, complete with blueprints. Interact with this workbench to assemble the LTG Device using the collected parts.
After crafting the LTG Device, return to the Dark Aether Church and interact with the SDG Generator once more to trigger further dialogue. Dr. Panos will instruct you to capture a High-Value Target (HVT) within an Aether Canister. These canisters are cylindrical tubes protruding from the SDG Generator. Interact with the generator to acquire an Aether Canister. Note that carrying the canister will encumber your movement, so acquiring the Stamin-Up perk from the bowling alley beforehand is highly recommended for increased mobility.
Capturing the Riverside HVT: Aether Canister Deployment
Return to the starting area of Liberty Falls. In the center of this zone, you’ll find a Dark Aether Field Generator. Follow the generator’s cables to a designated ‘trap’ spot located near the gas tank. Activating the generator will cause Aether energy to emanate from this spot. This is where you need to deploy your Aether Canister. Drop the canister directly onto the trap spot and leave it there.
Now, proceed down the road leading towards Olly’s Comics. Approximately halfway down this road, you’ll encounter a damaging Aether Storm. Beneath the storm’s eye, you’ll find a small platform. Place the LTG Device on this platform by holding the interact button. This action will create a portal. Prepare for a wave defense sequence. Zombies will converge on the portal, and allowing them to enter will compromise its integrity.
Successfully defend the portal, and a uniquely named, red-hued Mangler or Abomination variant will spawn. This is your HVT. Your objective is to guide it towards the location where you placed the Aether Canister. Once the HVT is within the designated area, weaken it until it has only a sliver of health remaining. The goal is to utilize the Dark Aether Field Generator to deliver the final blow, trapping the HVT’s essence within the Aether Canister.
With the HVT weakened and positioned near the Aether Canister, activate the trap for 1000 essence. Ensure the HVT is within the Dark Aether Field’s effect. Deliver the finishing blow with your weapons, which will successfully trap the zombie’s essence within the canister. This process can be challenging, and failure necessitates repeating the LTG portal defense sequence in the next round.
The task is not yet complete. You must now retrieve the canister and transport it back to the church within a 90-second time limit. Quickly sprint towards the church and interact with the SDG Generator while carrying the canister. Successful interaction advances you to the next stage of the easter egg.
Aligning the Strauss Counter Projectors: Calibration Puzzle
After depositing the first Aether Canister, the SDG Generator will dispense a Strauss Counter, which will occupy your tactical slot. With the Strauss Counter acquired, you must locate three projectors positioned around the map and calibrate them based on the color displayed by the Strauss Counter when you are near each projector.
Each projector’s configuration is unique, but generally, you need to interact with each projector until its light displays the ‘opposite’ color indicated by the Strauss Counter. For instance, if the counter shows red, cycle the projector’s light to green, and vice versa. If the counter displays yellow, maintain the projector’s light as yellow.
Strauss Counter Projector 1: Hilltop Knoll
The first Strauss Counter projector is situated on a grassy knoll to the right of the Hilltop Stairs leading down from the Dark Aether Church.
Strauss Counter Projector 2: Toolshed Outskirts
For the second Strauss Counter projector, proceed to the Handbrake Toolshed visited earlier. Turn right, as if heading down the stairs towards Washington Avenue. To your right, you’ll find a small patch of ground with the projector positioned in the center.
Strauss Counter Projector 3: Savings & Loan Rooftop Breach
From the rooftop where you assembled the LTG Device, scan the perimeter until you locate a wooden board marked with a red cross. Spend 750 essence to detonate and destroy the board, creating a drop-down point. Descend into the newly accessible area to find the final projector.
Once all three projectors are calibrated, Dr. Panos will deliver concerning news. You are now tasked with filling a second Aether Canister, which has spawned near the location where you captured the first HVT.
Return to the gas station spawn point, retrieve the second canister, and also collect the LTG Device from its location beneath the Aether storm in Riverside.
Capturing the Cemetery HVT: Second Aether Canister
With the LTG Device and the second Aether Canister in your possession, proceed to the road connecting Washington Avenue to the Dark Aether Church. Approximately halfway up this road, you’ll encounter another Dark Aether Field Generator. Follow its cables and deploy your Aether Canister onto the trap spot once again. Then, head towards the Cemetery and locate the second Aether Storm, visually identical to the one in Riverside. Place your LTG Device beneath this storm to activate it. Defend the portal’s integrity by eliminating any zombies attempting to enter.
Upon successful portal defense, a second HVT will spawn. Guide this special Mangler or Abomination variant to the trap spot where you placed your second canister. Weaken it to a sliver of health. Activate the generator once more and finish off the HVT to trap its essence in the canister. Retrieve the canister and interact with the SDG Generator in the church. You’ll now be able to ‘Interact with the SDG Generator’ to initiate the final stage of the easter egg – a three-wave boss fight. Prepare accordingly!
Surviving the Liberty Falls Easter Egg Boss Fight: Final Stand
The Liberty Falls easter egg boss fight presents a significant challenge, particularly when playing solo. Activating the generator traps you inside the church, limiting maneuverability. Soon after, you’ll be overwhelmed by relentless hordes of zombies, accompanied by Manglers, Abominations, and eventually, HVT Manglers and Abominations. Survival demands every tactical advantage you can muster.
Prior to initiating the boss fight, it’s highly recommended to acquire every perk available on the map, triple Pack-a-Punch your weapons, and upgrade them to the highest rarity using salvage at an arsenal machine. Level three armor is also essential. Crafting a Mutant Injection Scorestreak provides a crucial activatable breather during dire moments. Consider assembling distraction equipment like Decoys, Monkey Bombs, or Smoke Grenades. Farming zombies until your Field Upgrade is fully charged is also a wise preparatory step.
To manage the difficulty, attempt to balance acquiring all necessary equipment with keeping the round count as low as possible. Regardless, the boss fight will be challenging. An ammunition box is available inside the church for restocking, but it comes at a cost, especially if your weapons are fully upgraded. Ensure your essence reserves are substantial before initiating the fight.
For players seeking a less conventional approach to overcome the boss fight, the Jet Gun can be used to vacuum a series of Aetherella action figures scattered around the map. Instead of collecting all figures outside the church, vacuum the final figure into the church (without picking it up) before starting the battle. Then, vacuum it up when needed during the fight. This will transform you into an invincible supervillain equipped with laser eyes, potentially trivializing the final wave if you are struggling.
Regardless of your chosen strategy, completing the boss fight concludes the Liberty Falls Easter Egg guide. Enjoy your well-earned unique rewards and the “Bye-Bye Dark Aether” Achievement. And if you’re still eager for more zombie action, remember you can continue your game session with bonus resources and upgrades by selecting ‘Continue’ after the concluding cutscene.
