After a childhood moving across the country and graduating from Texas A&M, Montana became home for Charlie in 1988, a year marked by the significant Yellowstone Park fires. Since then, he has dedicated himself to exploring and fishing the rivers of Montana and Idaho, becoming a seasoned expert in the region’s waters.
Charlie’s journey includes diverse experiences that enrich his guiding expertise. He spent years working as a wrangler at a guest ranch in Big Sky and as a wilderness ranger in the Beartooth Mountains. Furthering his commitment to the natural world, he earned a Masters in Resource Conservation from the University of Montana. This academic background paved the way for a 22-year career with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), where he was crucial in shaping policies and plans for recreation and outfitting on Montana’s renowned rivers. His time at FWP fostered strong relationships with many Montana fishing outfitters, including connections with leaders like Brian McGeehan at Montana Angler.
Retiring from FWP marked a new chapter for Charlie, allowing him to pursue his passion for guiding anglers. This transition perfectly blends his extensive experience in managing and fishing Montana rivers. Guiding provides Charlie with the opportunity to share his deep appreciation for these invaluable resources and the recreational experiences they offer, emphasizing conservation with his guests.

His personal life is equally rich, enjoying time with his wife and Australian shepherds, horseback riding in the mountains, elk bow hunting, and even ice fishing for trout and walleye during Montana’s extended winters.
