Unlocking Shampoodle’s
Before you can enjoy the fabulous services at Shampoodle’s, you’ll need to meet a few prerequisites. The first step is unlocking Kicks, the shoe store. To do this, you need to spend at least 8,000 Bells at the Able Sisters clothing shop. Once you’ve reached this spending threshold and at least ten days have passed since your town was established, Kicks will open its doors.
Next, continue your shopping spree at either Able Sisters or Kicks until you’ve spent a total of 10,000 Bells across both stores. After Kicks has been open for ten days in your town, construction will begin on Shampoodle’s! The salon will then open on the second floor of the Able Sisters building, ready to welcome you for your first hair transformation.
Hair Transformations at Shampoodle’s
Once you’ve unlocked Shampoodle’s, step inside and chat with Harriet to begin your makeover! For a fee, Harriet can change your hairstyle and hair color. Along with hairstyles, Harriet can also dye your hair! Similar to hairstyles, your responses to Harriet’s questions during a styling session will determine your hair color. There’s a wide spectrum of sixteen different hair colors to choose from, ranging from natural tones to more vibrant and unique shades.

Messy Hairstyle
If you happen to neglect your town and don’t play Animal Crossing: New Leaf for fifteen days or more, your character will wake up with a “messy” hairstyle. Don’t worry, this isn’t permanent! Simply head back to Shampoodle’s, and Harriet can fix you up with a brand new style, getting rid of the messy look. If you have the Beautiful Town ordinance enacted in your town, it will take longer for the messy hairstyle to appear.
Makeup Magic: Mii Masks
Beyond hair, Shampoodle’s also offers a fun makeup option. For 3,000 Bells, Harriet can create a Mii Mask based on any of the Miis you’ve created in your Mii Maker on your 3DS. This mask allows you to transform your character’s face to resemble your chosen Mii.
To wear your Mii Mask, access your custom designs via the pencil tab on the touch screen. Your Mii Masks will be located below your custom designs. Tap a Mii Mask to put it on, and tap “Mii” to remove it. You can also remove the mask by accessing your inventory and selecting “remove hat” from your character. Putting on any other hat or accessory will also automatically remove your Mii Mask.
Eye Color Contacts
To further personalize your appearance, Shampoodle’s offers color contacts! After you’ve changed your hairstyle at Shampoodle’s for the first time and waited fourteen days, you can ask Harriet for color contacts. Just like hairstyles and hair colors, your answers to Harriet’s questions will determine the eye color you receive. There are six different eye colors available.
